There isn't a whole lot you can do with the racing game template. Sure you can add power-ups, tweak the physics, and endlessly improve the graphics, but whatever you do, you've basically just got accelerate, brake, and get to the end fast. Instead of trying to add to the racing genre, "Crystal Spear Remake" strips it down to the most basic fundamentals, and ends ups with solid minimalist fun.

Shigeru Miyamoto said he wants to see a Zelda unveiling at E3 in 2010, and new comments from another Nintendo decision-maker indicate that those plans are still in motion. What's more interesting, though, is that in addition to adding MotionPlus support, producer Eiji Aonuma expects to see the next Zelda title overhaul the series' traditional game format.

The original "BioShock" offered up a pretty excellent special edition, if only because of the incredibly well-made, desk-worthy Big Daddy statue. Now it looks like "BioShock 2" is following in his large, clunky footsteps with an equally compelling special edition.

The "Final Fantasy" series' token needled plant creature Cactuar will show up on screens when "Final Fantasy XIII" hit Japan December 17. North America will have to wait until March 9, 2010, to see him in motion, but some Shonen Jump scans have an early look.

It's no secret that Apple's iPhone and iPod touch have courted a lot of major game developers. EA Sports now releases App Store titles for nearly all of its annual franchises, THQ has "Star Wars: Trench Run" hitting the platform this month and countless others from Disney Interactive to 2K and Ubisoft now have high-profile releases out. Apple may be ready to expand its own development capabilities, however, if a recent job posting is any indication.

It stands to reason that with a "Kane & Lynch" movie in the works -- potentially starring Bruce Willis -- IO Interactive would want to keep their franchise in motion on game systems. An announcement today indicates that they intend to do just that in 2010 with "Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days" for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The sequel, which IO says will come laden with a "new visual experience," already has a trailer up on KaneandLynch.com and sounds like it will play up violent shock-value scenes just like the series' first installment did.

When I first came up with the idea for MTV's Big Buck Challenge, I can't say I imagined that we'd get a winner of "Project Runway" to complete. And yet I've been proven wrong. Christian Siriano was in the MTV newsroom the other day and was more than willing to take a shot at the high score list. The above video has all the gory details. Enjoy!

Although we're in the midst of the busiest video game time of the year, it's important not to forget the great games that were released, you know, earlier than last week. For example, "Borderlands," which is adding new DLC content on November 24th. I spoke with Paul Helquist, the Design Director on "Borderlands" downloadable content, to get the scoop on what we can expect with the "The Zombie Island Of Doctor Ned." For one thing, zombies. And islands. And a guy named Ned.
