'Thief 4' On Track In Middle Of Pre-Production

Posted 11/30/09 2:00 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News

Thief 4

Eidos Montreal studio manager Stephane D'Astous indicated last week that members of the Square Enix team in Tokyo "want to work on "'Thief 4.'" Now, in an update on the game's status, he has reiterated that the upcoming sequel is on track and in good shape.

"Let me reassure you that the team is making leaps and bounds," D'Astous told IncGamers. "Personally I have NEVER seen a team, at this milestone (middle of pre-production) in such good shape!"

The Eidos Montreal studio, which is currently collaborating with Square Enix in Tokyo on "Deus Ex 3," has high bars to reach with both sequels, but if the caps in D'Astous' responses are any indication, they have the enthusiasm to reach those goals.

Other than verifying that "Thief 4" is in the middle of pre-production, D'Astous didn't offer any surprises, unless of course you thought the game will be bad, because he predicted that players "will NOT be disappointed with 'Thief 4.'"

Civilians outside of the Eidos Montreal development team will obviously want to see "Thief 4" in action before that claim can be corroborated, but we do at least have confirmation that the game exists. So cheers to that.

What kinds of expectations do you have for "Thief 4"? Would you like to see Square Enix step in to help out? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
