Despite a small delay, "Splinter Cell: Conviction" still appears to be nested for a February 23, 2010, release date, and Ubisoft is now beginning to roll out gameplay details. Though the Tom Clancy series has featured co-op play before, a new report says the returning option will be joined by at least one additional mode of play in Q1.

Producer Eiji Aonuma spoke cautiously when he discussed Wii MotionPlus controls and updating the "Legend of Zelda" series' format for its next Wii sequel earlier this month. New details are slowly trickling out, though, and as his team looks forward to launching "The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks" he may already be contemplating flight possibilities for Link's next adventure.

Eidos Montreal studio manager Stephane D'Astous indicated last week that members of the Square Enix team in Tokyo "want to work on "'Thief 4.'" Now, in an update on the game's status, he has reiterated that the upcoming sequel is on track and in good shape.

The above picture (taken at PAX 2008) is probably what Cyber Monday would look like if you had to go to a store and wait in line. Thankfully we can now do all our holiday shopping from the comfort of a desk, pants optional, and this Cyber Monday has given us quite an array of excellent deals. Lets check 'em out!

Augmented reality apps have been becoming more and more popular with the addition of video cameras on cell phones. Currently they really do is add silly little enemies and icons over the video camera viewfinder, but the Avatar Machine may just be a glimpse at the future. Created by Marc Owens, the machine is basically a VR suit with a built in camera that hovers directly behind the user, giving them a 3rd person view of the world around them (via the connected headset). Check out the video below.

It's easy to recognize that Activision's "Tony Hawk" series has floundered in recent years against stiff competition from EA's fledgling "skate" franchise. The fact of the matter is, the signature gameplay on offer just got stale over the years (despite slight innovations offered up with "Project 8" and "Proving Ground"). And that's where "Tony Hawk: Ride" comes into play. With its fancy new skateboard peripheral that pushes player immersion to new levels, Activision is hoping that players will be quick to hop on board and dish out $120 bucks for the chance to simulate skating like the pros. So is this the season to give Tony another chance?

Often imitated and heretofore unduplicated, "Puzzle Quest" was a dark horse delight, stealing dozens of productivity hours by mixing the horrible addiction of "Bejeweled" with the horrible addition of a BioWare RPG. As much as I loved the first game, none of its predecessors, even the anticipated "Puzzle Quest: Galaxtrix," managed to capture the magic. So why not go back to basics? D3 has announced that "Puzzle Quest 2" is coming to the 360 and Nintendo DS this spring.

In addition to hearing Tesla in "Guitar Hero 6" players may be getting some added control systems, including actions tied to Microsoft's Project Natal setup. Though the sequel is still in its infancy, the development team at Neversoft is already experimenting with alternative input possibilities.

Recently gutted EA acquisition Pandemic Studios doesn't appear to be down for the count, even if their operations have been largely shut down. An announcement today confirmed that their leaked project "Mercs Inc." will keep the Mercenaries franchise alive, even if the game's core team will be working on it out of their new Playa Alta home.

We've already run through the 360 and the Wii. Now, if you own Sony's big black console, you've got a handful of solid gaming options this holiday season. Here's the rundown:
