Review by Kyle Anderson
Football is the most-played sport in the world. And it's not the kind that Peyton Manning plays, either — rather, it's the one played by mono-monikered Brazilians and uncomfortably good-looking Brits. For devotees of Manchester United or the MLS, EA Sports' annual "FIFA" entry is the completist's standard by which all other soccer games are judged. "FIFA Soccer 10" has a bunch of new features and a handful of gameplay improvements, but some of the annoying details that have plagued the series are still there.

This week, WayForward is releasing their remake of David Crane’s single most bizarre game, "A Boy and His Blob." They’ve taken Crane’s bizarre and unforgiving original and recast it as a whimsical, tender cartoon about a kid and his alien pal. If early reviews are to be believed, it's a winning revision. "A Boy and His Blob" is a good model for preserving Crane’s legacy. His originals are simply too strange and cumbersome to play today, so why not remake and re-imagine them for today’s audience? Here are some ideas on where to start.

In this week's Game Plan, we have what could arguably be the best game of the year, as well as me with a cold. I say some goofy things, 'cause of the medicine. Don't mind me. "National Treasure" really is awesome, though.

You know you're famous when you become the target of tabloid gossip, and "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" appears to have reached that benchmark. Citing message board comments, the UK's Daily Star performed some hard-hitting investigation into precisely what gamers will do with the night vision goggles contained in in the "Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" Prestige Edition bundle.

The first concept art for one of the villains in Junction Point's "Epic Mickey" has been laid out in a drawing table video, and he doesn't look like anything Mickey's gone up against before. Slowly revealed in a time-lapse film, the so-called "Beetleworx" creature is modeled after Hades from "Hercules" and appears to be a mash-up of something created by the sadistic mad scientist kid Sid in "Toy Story," a "Quake II" enemy and the X-Men villain Mojo. Though no in-game shots have been released into the wild yet, the Wii Disney title definitely has a darker tinge to its material so far.

After an extended wait, Rocktober 13 has finally arrived. If you’re reading this, you likely know what that means. After four years, Tim Schafer and the folks at Double Fine Productions have finally finished off the follow-up to their superb-yet-criminally undersold 2005 release, "Psychonauts." "Brutal Legend" is the latest zany creation to spring forth from Schafer’s mind, and it’s a doozy. But does the adventure measure up to the ordeals of Raz and his psychic summer camp buddies?

The plot for "Left 4 Dead 2" may still be shrouded in mystery, but the game's list of Achievements names both items and stages in the order they appear. Merely surviving will go a long way toward point accumulation, but the accomplishments contain a few fancy tricks as well. Defibrillators appear to be involved, likely as a means to heal party members. Also mentioned are "bile bombs," which will score you an Achievement when used against a tank. Check out the whole rundown and a very special clown-based Achievement after the jump.

In case you missed it last week, MTV Splash Page ran an exclusive look at the new comic series for "Army of Two." The series is part of a partnership between IDW and Electronic Arts, with the two teaming up on both "Army of Two" and "Dragon Age" to produce new stories in those universes.
Definitely check out the post, as it features some pretty killer exclusive artwork taken from the book. Oh, and the game comes out early next year, so it's got that going for it, too!

Curiosity usually gets the better of me when it comes to packages arriving at my desk, but, for once, I really do not want to open something. Take a look at the box which arrived, seemingly promoting "Ju-on: The Grudge," the survival horror game based on the movie franchise which, as it happens, calls you a sissy. It's not even the fake blood splattered on the outside or the make-shift, Unabomber-style cardboard box. No, it's the hair sticking out the side.

It's been nearly two months since "Shadow Complex" released on Xbox Live to critical and commercial acclaim. The game, a side-scrolling adventure shooter, definitely raised the bar for what was possible in the downloadable space and introduced a whole new group of gamers to traditional Metroid-style gameplay.
Now that the game is done and dusted, I spoke with Donald Mustard, the creative director and co-founder of Chair Entertainment, to understand a bit about what went into its creation. First up, the map.
