FaceAPI

From what Microsoft has shown off so far, Project Natal looks like it will track various body movements for controls dealing with first-person shooters, sports games and maybe even lightsaber fights. PhD candidate Torben Sko, is concentrating on face movements in his work right now, though, and he says he's found a way to track mouths, eyes and head movements nothing nothing more than a camera.

John Mayer may not be hugely popular in gaming circles, but that doesn't make him any less of a gamer. His enthusiasm for "Halo" clearly knows no bounds, as he's quick to pick the Microsoft/Bungie joint as the greatest game of the decade, saying that it brings people together while breaking friendships apart. Sounds like there's at least one song in there, huh?

God of War III

UPDATE: Readers remind us that folks purchasing the "God of War Collection" will also have access to the demo. But the whole Japan-only aspect of this release is still pretty strange.

ORIGINAL STORY: PlayStation 3 owners may relish Sony's exclusivity regarding "God of War 3," but Japan seems to have an exclusive of its own for the game -- namely a downloadable demo from the PlayStation Store. That means North American games may be out in the cold until the full game comes out in March 2010 -- unless Sony has further plans for the Western Hemispshere.

Left 4 Dead 2

One of the main successes of the first "Left 4 Dead" was the demo. With a new franchise it's important to inform the planet why it's awesome, and the demo did just that, giving folks a healthy taste of what "Left 4 Dead" was all about.

Valve is continuing the trend with "Left 4 Dead 2," with a demo going out to folks that pre-ordered the game on October 27th. Less committal humans that are holding off on pre-orders can get access to it on November 3rd (so long as you're on a PC or you're an Xbox Live Gold member). Come November 10th, the demo will open up to all members of Xbox Live (for those that enjoy a little split-screen multiplayer).

Jack Black

Jack Black was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last night, appearing in his full-on Eddie Riggs costume (last seen at the VMAs). Oddly he was playing Jack Black, channeling Eddie Riggs, and he remained in character for the duration, participating in demon-slaying skits with fake audience members.

It's a pretty entertaining watch, and it's all online for your enjoyment. The first clip can be found here, but the full interview is also available online.

Uncharted 2

The sequel to "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" may already be on shelves this week with "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves," and the game franchise has already been announced as a film in development at Columbia Pictures. The story before "Drake's Fortune," however, looks to be destined for a new medium altogether -- motion comics. Exactly how those will be distributed -- via Xbox Live, iTunes or otherwise -- wasn't made clear, but some of the same talent from the series will be involved.

Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi's single "We Weren't Born To Follow" may state that it "ain’t about our living in a fantasy," but it it sure isn't opposed to advertising for one. Square Enix ads for "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers" will drop J-pop in favor of Jersey rock this fall to promote the game's November Japanese release, and the group's song about gritty life challenges will provide the soundtrack.
