Project Natal may still be a mystery, but a few new details are out in the wild this week following an open house event in New York. Up until now, Microsoft has acknowledged that it won't be out in 2009 and that it uses your body to initiate controls. One of the big questions for 360 users will be what kind of price barrier Microsoft sets for entering its new console era of motion detection. The answer seems to be that that they'll start high and work they're way down.
"Relative to Natal, we’ll see how the pricing cost works out," president of Microsoft's entertainment & devices division Robbie Bach told Variety. "But people should [expect] that it will go through the usual price curve."
Exactly how high that first price tag will be remains to be seen, but Microsoft will obviously have to start it out with room to drop.
As far as what the official title for the peripheral package will, Bach indicated that Natal probably won't stick going into stores, since he answer with a when instead of an if when asked when the code name would be dropped.
"When we tell you to call it something else," he stated.
How much do you think Microsoft should charge for 360 owners to integrate Natal controls? How much is going to be too much for you? Share your suggestions in the comment section below.
