“Scribblenauts” developer 5th Cell has got to be feeling pretty swell right now. Their new game is hitting stores today, riding high on a wave of critical praise and fan love. It’s got an unforgettably adorable lead character and is a contender for game of the year. That’s all just icing on the cake, though. 5th Cell’s real achievement is creating the Objectnaut that powers “Scribblenauts”, the data engine that gives all the objects in the game their characteristics and also allows players to summon them using the good ol’ English language.

Every year, the August release of “Madden” tends to overshadow one of EA Sports’ other most long-standing and highly cherished franchise: the “NHL” series. Following a few stumbles in the middle of the decade, EA reclaimed the top spot with a series of stellar annual hockey games. “NHL 10” is no different.

Tecmo isn't the first video game company to edit its own Wikipedia article, and it surely won't be the last. Repeated interventions to remove notes about its recent history, however, have prompted an official warning from Wikipedia.

Wikipedia discovered a user with a Tecmo office IP address making multiple changes to the page, according to Kotaku. Those changes attempted to erase references to the company's history that discussed a recent lawsuit.

With only 4 paragraphs currently comprising Tecmo's Wiki history, it's understandable that the company would prefer not to have one them focused on Team Ninja head Tomonobu Itagaki's resignation and subsequent chunky lawsuit.

"This was followed by another lawsuit filed on the 16th of June by two plaintiffs on behalf of Tecmo's 300 employees for unpaid wages amounting to ¥8.3 million," the entry continues.

Wikipedia typically prefers that companies stick to uploading hi-res visual assets, rather than re-sculpting their entries for marketing purposes though. And thus, they intervened.

There's still ongoing discussion on the Tecmo article's Talk page, where the lawsuits' use in the article are still being weighed and considered, but for now Itagaki's compensation dispute remains a matter of public wiki record.

Do you think Tecmo's Wikipedia warning was deserved? Do you think publishers should be allowed access to their Wikipedia entries? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

I don't think anyone finished "Batman: Arkham Asylum" wanting more content, but it seems WBIE, Eidos and Rocksteady are unwilling to let this game go without tossing a freebie.

On September 17th, owners of all versions of "Batman: Arkham Asylum" will be able to download the "Insane Night" map pack, which includes two new challenge maps.

Since its wide debut at E3 this year, no other handheld game has gotten the attention that "Scribblenauts" has. And for good reason: It's one of the most original and impressive handheld titles in years.

What makes it so awesome is its dictionary, allowing you to conjure up thousands of objects. How many, exactly? 22,802, according to the interwebs. Someone has managed to capture the length and breadth of the "Scribblenauts" dictionary and posted it online (mind the expletive at the beginning).
