My affection for "Artoon" is arguably a case of style over substance. But when a game's got this much style, I'll take it.
The game is a simple little platformer in which you bounce across floating blocks to change their color, trying not to hit the same block twice or fall off the edge of the world. What makes the game special is its great visual creativity, with levels set in worlds that look like a geometry textbook run through a trash compactor. Adding to the challenge are level-by-level rule changes, like a world where you can only hit blocks of alternating colors, or a world where the blocks are constantly in motion and you have to jump frantically to avoid bouncing into empty space.

Three down, one to go. We've already gone through the Hunter, the Siren and the Soldier. Last of the "Borderlands" classes we're exploring this week is the Berserker. Convenient, since he was the last class added in the development process! Lets take a look at how this big fella handles.

The “Need for Speed” franchise is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, and what better way to do it than by re-imagining the series, and releasing three completely different versions of the game. Fifteen years is a long time for any franchise, much less one whose key mechanic is driving, and with the release of “Need for Speed: Shift” the series has gotten a beautiful and realistic makeover.

New callsigns and kill streaks in "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" have made their way through several gaming news cycles. Infinity Ward's announcement of their new multiplayer features took center stage at their press event Tuesday in Los Angeles, and the one of the big names there to introduce their fame-making gameplay innovations was community manager Robert Bowling.

"Super Meat Boy," the WiiWare-exclusive platformer based on the free Flash platformer is coming early next year. Edmund McMillen, old school-platformer aficionado, has gone ahead and released the first gameplay footage of the title, which looks way prettier and more wide-screeny than the original (which featured a strangely tall and skinny aspect ratio).

"Left 4 Dead 2" would obviously love to one-up its predecessor as much as possible, but due to the game's violent content, it may have outdone itself in Australia. The zombie-hunting sequel earned a brick-wall "RC" rating from the Australian government, indicating that it has been refused classification, without which Valve will have a hard time putting in on Aussie shelves.

Following up our hands-on preview from yesterday, Rockstar has released a video featuring the new weapons and vehicles that'll appear in "Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony." Of special note is The Buzzard, a super maneuverable attack chopper, as well as an auto-shotgun with exploding rounds which can, according to Rockstar's fake news organization, "field dress a deer or a mouthy neighbor in one shot."

Gamer-friendly social media services like Raptr and gamerDNA have already set up venues for players to broadcast their habits and achievements through Twitter. "Uncharted 2," however, looks like it wants to cut out the middleman with Twitter for some of its activities, though -- if you want it to. The game appears to contain categories in its Options menu that provide on/off settings for a variety of Twitter communications.

In our week-long look at the classes of "Borderlands," we've gone through the Siren and the Hunter so far. Next up on the list we have what will probably one of the more popular class selections: The Soldier.

Just about ten years back, right when Neversoft made their first “Spider-Man” game for the PS1, superhero games started getting good. There were some decent ones before that, games like “Batman” on the NES, but they were generally generic platformers and beat ‘em ups. These days, we’re flush with great superhero games that really get what superheroics are all about. “Spider-Man 2” gave us the freedom of swinging through New York, “X-Men Legends” gave us team dynamics and a great story, and most recently “Batman: Arkham Asylum” gave us an adventure that made use of every tool in the Dark Knight franchise’s chest.
