Square Enix's Yoichi Wada isn't the only one in the game industry looking ahead to a potential Wii 2. Though Goichi Suda was quoted as saying his follow-up to "No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle" would be on a platform other than the Wii, he has now clarified that statement, explaining that he wants Suda51's next game to be on the next Nintendo system.
"What I wanted to say was, looking at the Wii, I think 'No More Heroes 2' will probably be the last iteration for this current platform," the Suda51 founder told 1UP. "But there's probably going to be a 'Wii 2' or other next-gen system from Nintendo at some point, so I was saying that I would want to do another game in the series on the next Nintendo platform."
But the next "No More Heroes" will probably have to find a new main character, since Suda says its current lead Travis Touchdown will run out of things to do after "No More Heroes 2."
"I want to continue the 'No More Heroes' series, but I've finished the story for Travis," he said. "It's completely finished in 'No More Heroes 2.' So I want to think of a different story -- a different character, or something like that within the series -- starting on the next Nintendo platform."
It's probably just a coincidence that both Suda and Wada have been quoted regarding a new Nintendo console this week, but it's easy to see that developers are very interested in what the Wii's next move will be, even they aren't speaking with firsthand knowledge of Nintendo's hardware plans. Suda's comments do beg the question of what fate will befall Travis at the end of "No More Heroes 2," though.
Which characters in "No More Heroes" would you like to see Suda use if he spins off a third sequel? What do you want to see Nintendo do with their next console? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
