No 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' PS3 Bundle Planned, Says Activision

Posted 9/18/09 6:15 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PS3

Major Nelson sounded pretty excited when he and Infinity Ward announced the Xbox 360's "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" bundle this week. That same joy doesn't sound like it's waiting for the PS3, however, as both Activision and Sony have reportedly denied plans to package a similar box for the 360's main competitor.

"No, there are no plans, but thank you for asking," Activision told VG247. That echoed a similar response from Sony.

"We’ve not made any announcements about bundle packs, but will let you know should that change," they were told by a Sony rep.

For now, PS3 buyers will just have to settle for "FIFA 10," "Uncharted 2," "Ratchet & Clank Future" or "Need for Speed: Shiftthose" bundles -- or perhaps those free copies of "Infamous," "MLB 09 The Show" or "Killzone 2" that Best Buy quietly made available under certain conditions. It all depends on what region you live in. And I don't mean to imply that any of those are bad deals.

But surely something else will be popping before the holiday season.

What bundles with upcoming games would you like to see the Playstation 3 offer? Are you surprised to learn that there's no "Modern Warfare 2" bundle planned for the near future? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
