'Borderlands' Class Guide: The Siren

Posted 9/16/09 3:30 pm EST by Russ Frushtick in Features, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

Yesterday we took a look at The Hunter, the equivalent of a sniper class in "Borderlands." Today we'll examine The Siren, who plays a bit more like a rogue.

SIREN BASICS

The Siren is less reliant on guns, thanks to her special ability. Activating it allows her to go invisible and move at incredible speeds for a short amount of time, letting her get close to enemies to deal massive damage with melee attacks. She's very much a hit-and-run style class, though, as you can't really stand toe-to-toe with anyone for very long. Thankfully the cooldown on her ability is the shortest in the game, so you'll be up and running in no time. Literally.

SIREN SKILL TREE
(Note: The level cap is 50, with a skill point added for each level starting at 5. The Special Ability skill only requires one point to max out, leaving 45 points to spend in the other skills. Each skill can be maxed out with 5 points, so you could fill out the top tier skills in two of the trees, and still have 5 remaining points to max out another skill.)

Special Ability: Phasewalk
Gain the ability to turn invisible and move incredibly fast. Upon entering and leaving Phasewalk you create a Phase Blast that damages nearby enemies. You can melee attack to end Phasewalk early. (Cooldown: 36 seconds)
