"Rock Band," "Guitar Hero" and Wii nights are already in effect at bars around the world. The folks at "Rock Band" want to give those events a little push, though, and their new "Rock Band" Bar Nights landing page comes with loads of incentives for participating venues, including access to all of the songs in the "Rock Band" DLC catalog, marketing materials, and a location finder to be available through RockBand.com.
"[V]enues hosting 'Rock Band' nights have seen an increase in traffic and sales with their consumers staying longer and spending more on food and beverage," according to Harmonix's pitch at RockBand.com/barnights.
A lot of bar-crawling gamers would love to have a calendar of "Rock Band" events being held in their neighborhood. And a little extra publicity will obviously be welcomed by participating bars.
"You’ll be able to find official Rock Band Bar Nights near you through our location finder coming soon to RockBand.com," the site explains. "If you are on the go, you’ll also be able to download our free iPhone app, where you can search for 'Rock Band' Bar Nights by zip code or GPS."
It's worth noting the little nudge contained in the site's FAQs page, as well, encouraging bars to take care of any licensing concerns involved with public performances of "Rock Band" music.
"You won’t, however, be able to charge people to play Rock Band in your venue, due to music licensing restrictions," the site explains. "As a member of Rock Band Bar Nights you will receive a lot of marketing, promotional and operational help but you will have to secure your own ASCAP, BMI or SESAC license for your venue."
