Sigh. Movies based on games have not had a very good run, and while it's too early to judge the quality of next May's "Prince of Persia" movie, the poster has been released and it's, well, I'm actually not sure how I feel.

And the summer weeks keep on a-rollin', which each week having fewer gaming options than the last. Apart from Wii Sports Resort, which drops this weekend, there's nothing really flying off store shelves. So I put the question to you guys. What the heck are you going to play this week? (Interesting that everyone seems so concerned about getting awesome bargains!)

Since Capcom's blog, Capcom-Unity.com, launched, the game publisher has been making a lot of effort to appeal to their massive fanbase. It appears that Comic-con will be their next plan of attack, as they've got several delicious surprises in store for those who stop by the Capcom Booth.

"Lost Planet 2" Salamander Plush

Only available as a give-away, and in very limited supply, the "Lost Planet 2" salamander plush comes in two sizes, 16 inch version and a whopping 3 foot version. In the game you'll actually be able to climb into the intestines of this creature, so I guess it's appropriate that the plushies are so large.

I've been playing through a preview build of "Shadow Complex" for about a week now and I'm happy to report that it will live up to its predecessors like "Metroid" and "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night." And, thanks to some Unreal Engine-powered visuals, it looks a helluva lot better, too.

Throughout the game you'll explore a giant, labyrinthine military base, collecting items and objects to help you progress deeper and farther. There's a lot of cool gear to discover, but if you're looking to go into the game fresh, you may want to stop reading right here. For everyone else, read on, spoilers ho!

Kotaku is running a clever (if creepy) feature, re-imagining video games as summer-friendly outdoor activities.

Taking a look at the gameplay elements in games like "Pac-Man," "Metal Gear" and "Katamari Damacy" (pictured), they spin each of the games so that they'd work outdoors, as an alternative to Capture the Flag (the real one) or Kick the Can.

I recall reenacting scenes from the "Captain N" TV show, though I usually got the shaft and had to play the eggplant wizard. This alternative seems way less embarrassing, but may still result in future therapy bills, depending on the participants.

Speaking with Jeff Gardiner, who has been at the helm of the "Fallout 3" DLC content, I was curious what sort of weapons we'd be seeing in Mothership Zeta, the upcoming alien-centric expansion. Thankfully it looks like there is plenty to keep our trigger fingers humming:

"Mothership Zeta is full of the most high tech weaponry in the game. It includes a Shock Baton for melee fighters, multiple new firearms including an Alien Atomizer, a pistol, and the Alien Disintegrator, a new rifle. There's also a new grenade type, a Cryo Grenade, which freezes enemies for a short period of time. On top of that there are new unique weapons, and a new heavy weapon."

In honor of the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11's moon landing, I thought it might be a good time to take a look back at the memorable moments that have taken place on the moon throughout video game history. There are a bunch that spring to mind, but the moon made of cheese which is featured in many of the "Worms" battlegrounds is pretty excellent. I also enjoyed the brief moon mission hidden in "Mass Effect." Here are some of yours!

Since "Guitar Hero: World Tour" launched last holiday season, it had the edge on Rock Band...at least from a song-creation point of view. Today's announcement of the Rock Band Network levels the playing field, as Harmonix will allow users to upload their own songs and share them with other "Rock Band" players around the world.

The system will allow players to not only upload their music, but also add the note highway and allow other creators to rate and review their work. Once it's ready, the song will be uploaded to retail consoles, where it can be sold, with the author taking a portion of every sale.

The details are still a little hazy, but I'm going to be speaking with Harmonix about just this topic on Monday, so if you have any specific questions, please leave them in the comments.

Bringing "Halo" to the silver screen has not exactly been a smooth road, and it's currently looking like it won't happen anytime soon. But that doesn't mean there aren't believers out there. Take Stuart Beattie, for example. The wrote the screenplays for all three "Pirates of the Carribbean" movies, along with the "30 Days of Night Adaptation," and his latest work is the "GI Joe" movie that's dropping this summer.
