FROM MTV MOVIES BLOG: Genital mutilation! I know that got your attention. I’m not using as a means of misdirection either. Genital mutilation really does apply to the news I have to share.

You may or may not have heard, but one of the films that generated a lot of buzz at the Cannes International Film Festival this year was director Lars Von Trier’s “Antichrist,” starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg. That’s not to say it was well-received. Or poorly received. It was certainly received however, with its shocking depictions of sexuality and graphic violence. How shocking… well let’s just say that I’m not comfortable printing the gory details here.

This may come from a page in the book of "D'uh" but Bethesda will be adding more alien weapons to your "Fallout 3" arsenal when the next-next DLC, "Mothership Zeta," gets released later this summer.

Jeff Gardiner, Bethesda's lead producer on "Fallout 3" DLC, wouldn't confirm what sort of weapons we'd be seeing, but he did say that you'll definitely be getting more ammo for your Alien Blaster, and there will be new galactic doodads to tool around with, as well. As for the style of play in "Mothership Zeta" he said it'll be "more action-oriented." Like "Operation Anchorage"? "Just a bit more focused [than "Point Lookout"], with less of an emphasis on exploration."

Thankfully exploration fans should get their fill with "Point Lookout," when it drops next Tuesday.

THQ was in NYC today to show off some of their holiday titles. One of them was "Marvel Super Hero Squad," an action/adventure/brawler aimed at kids and young adults which features all the big-name Marvel heroes and villains in various states of wackiness.

The game's menu managed to grab my attention, though.

Yes, that's Doctor Doom, Marvel's resident d-bag, hanging out in his robe with a cup of joe. Perhaps most vexing, the morning stubble he appears to be rocking on his METAL FACE. I'm willing to let men with claws and magnetic powers slide, but HAIR DOES NOT GROW ON METAL!

Anyway, just thought I'd share. The game's scheduled for release this fall, so hopefully he'll be able to shake off the morning grogginess by then.

The Main Drag is a band made up of 5 guys, four of which work at Harmonix (yep, the guys behind "Rock Band"). Their song, "A Jagged Gorgeous Winter," is playable is "Rock Band 2" and was used for a Target ad promoting the game.

Not really news, I'll admit, but what is kick ass is the music video they just put out. It's basically one giant (hopefully not legally actionable) homage to "Calvin and Hobbes," complete with sled, keytar and man-shaped tiger.

Codemasters was in New York City yesterday showing off "Dirt 2," their upcoming rally racing game, and I discovered something rather unique about the game: It'll feature a posthumous memorial for Colin McRae.

For years, McRae was the main spokesman for Codemasters' racing games, with titles such as "Colin McRae Rally" and "Colin McRae: DiRT" (released as, simply, "DiRT," in the US). At the time of his sudden death in September 2007, "DiRT" was too far along in development to make any significant changes.

For "DiRT 2," Codemasters is honoring his memory. As you progress through the game, you're working towards qualifying for the Colin McRae Memorial Cup, a rally race that exists only in the game but seems like it deserves a real-world equivalent, as well.

"Red Faction: Guerrilla" is easily one of my favorite games of the first half of 2009. There's a level of fun in this game that I associate with titles like "Crackdown," where simply the act of playing, not necessarily achieving, is enjoyable.

So why, if I enjoyed it so much, did I play the game on the easiest setting? In the game it's called "Casual" but you could very easily call it "Wuss-tastic" and be mostly accurate. Well, the short answer is that, quite simply, it's more fun. There are many games out there where the challenge yeilds a greater reward. Finishing a really tough level in "N+" was like plowing through "War and Peace" and understanding all the political subtext. It was an accomplishment.

It took 3 weeks here at MTV before I found the key to Stephen's mythical games cabinet, but once I did, oh the treasures that lay in store for me. Here's a little video we put together so you guys could get a look at what I'm working with.

In the interest of fair and honest reporting, upon Stephen's departure, the cabinet was a little bit ransacked by the random would-be pirates of MTV News, so part of the disarray may have been due to that. It would also explain why there's only PC and original Xbox titles left over, since it seems the quality meat has been picked clean. But, like the phoenix, I have no doubt the games cabinet will rise from the ashes, stronger and more befeathered than before.

During E3 I got a look at "Point Lookout," the next DLC pack for "Fallout 3," which drops next week. After that we have "Mothership Zeta," coming out in July. But beyond? Good question! We asked Jeff Gardiner, lead producer on "Fallout 3" DLC, to get the story.

Unlike those months after the Ancourage/Pitt/Broken Steel announcement, Bethesda is unwilling to commit to the possibility that there could be more DLC content on the way. Seems logical, as "Fallout: New Vegas" is more than a year out, so what better way to fuel interest than to release regular updates? Keep 'em coming, Bethesda!

Checked out "Assassins Creed 2" during E3. While not a major gameplay departure from the first one, it's looking pretty excellent, especially the new cityscapes. But I was more curious about the ending of the first game. We're about to get into spoiler territory here, so be warned.

(Spoilers)

At the end of "Assassins Creed" present-tense Desmond (played by Nolan North...of course!) discovered a secret message on the wall above his cell. The message said a lot of crazy things (written by the previous inhabitant of the cell) and features mentions of Japan. It led many to believe that the next game would feature this setting and, probably, ninjas.

The Game Critics Awards nominees were announced this week. You've probably already seen the list, but I'll include it at the end of the post for your convenience.

Before I get to that, though, I wanted to take a look at some of my top picks that didn't make the final nominations list. The way the system works, 30 E3 judges (one from each publication), send in their picks for each category. 3-5 picks are required for each, and the higher up in the list you have something, the more "points" it gets into the final total. With the points tallied, the 5 games with the most points for each category are entered as nominees and the final voting process begins.
