E3 is just next week, and it's going to be pretty much chaos. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited, but I'm also sorta mentally preparing myself for a week of not eating or sleeping (but drinking more than I probably should). Anyway, since there's just so much going on next week I wanted to narrow down the 5 titles which I'm most pumped about…if only to make sure I don't miss 'em. In no particular order:
Brutal Legend
I've seen it twice so far, and every time I do I want to see even more of it. Tim Schafer's ode to metal is hilarious, looks great and features Zelda-esque exploration that could be pumped right into my veins to bring pure, unadulterated joy. So yeah, seeing more of this would be nice.
Modern Warfare 2
Everything you've seen from Modern Warfare 2 is exactly what I've seen. Activision has been extremely tight about showing this game, only revealing it to print press at a pre-e3 event a couple weeks back. So E3 will be the first time I'm able to not only see it in action, but put my loving hands on it. Say, how 'bout access to the beta 5 months in advance? Awesome, thanks!
God of War 3
I've only seen this one once, during a hands-off first-look presentation. It looked very, very good. Admittedly the gameplay wasn't a total departure, but the devs didn't show off the "climbing on titans" element which apparently makes the game so mind-blowing. You get a look at it in this first trailer, but seeing it during real gameplay would be an excellent way to spend my 30-minute appointment with the game.
Alpha Protocol
This was off my radar until two weeks ago. Now it's the RPG I'm most excited to play. Imagine a modern-day Mass Effect with powers that are actually fun to use. Freezing time and sniping three guys before they even know you're there? Priceless. The amount of variety in character creation in AP is killer and I can't wait to see what other bells and whistles they've got going on.
Microsoft/Nintendo Mystery Games
Sorry if this is vague, but the amount I know about Microsoft and Nintendo's line-ups could fill a business card. Apart from Halo ODST and Wii Sports Resort, I have no clue what these two are going to be doing for the rest of the year. Thankfully all this will be revealed during their press conferences on Monday and Tuesday morning. Somehow I think they'll be a bit more shocking than last year.
Anyway, if there are any other games you guys are looking forward to, lemme know. I'll be sure to check 'em out and report back.
