A system-ruining error is now covered, retroactively, by Microsoft.Microsoft has announced a warranty extension for Xbox 360 owners suffering from the system-ruining "E74" error.
Gaming blog Joystiq had reported that E74 was a growing problem for gamers since mid-2008. The mystery ailment will now be covered by the same three-year-since-purchase warranty that has been in effect for Xbox 360 failures related to the so-called Red Ring of Death since 2007.
In an explanation on the official Microsoft support website, the company indicates that a "very small percentage of" 360 owners have reported the problem and that those who have already had a system repaired for this issue should expect a reimbursement from Microsoft by July 1.
