Does 'Lego Star Wars' Have More Replay Value Than 'Super Mario Galaxy'?

Posted 4/8/09 11:00 am EST by Stephen Totilo in Wii, Wii Usage Stats Call-Outs

Another call-out from the April Wii Software Usage update I posted Monday: Take a look at the patterns of average playing time for "Lego Star Wars" and "Super Mario Galaxy," listed below. What do they tell you?

***

People played "Lego Star Wars" on average more than 35 hours between the day the game came out and the end of March 2009. They've played "Super Mario Galaxy" for about nine hours less (stats pulled from the Nintendo Channel). But it's not the average playing times that I think are notable. It's the month-to-month increases and how they differ...

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (November 2007)

Average time played per player:
As of 4/1: 35 hours, 11 minutes (up 55 minutes)
As of 3/1: 34 hours, 16 minutes
As of 2/1: 33 hours, 38 minutes

Super Mario Galaxy (Released November 2007)

Average time played per player:
As of 4/1: 26 hours, 55 minutes (up 15 minutes)
As of 3/1: 26 hours, 40 minutes
As of 2/1: 26 hours, 31 minutes
As of 1/1: 26 hours, 35 minutes
As of 12/1: 26 hours, 25 minutes

What's the lesson here?
