With all the rumors surrounding Game Informer's latest cover story on "BioShock 2," we had our intern get a copy of the magazine and summarize a few interesting details.
By Sal Basile
In an interview with Game Informer, "BioShock 2" creative director Jordan Thomas goes in depth on what 2K Marin is adding to Rapture. Here's some of what we can expect in "Bioshock 2":
- The main character is the first Big Daddy ever made; therefore, he's a prototype, differentiating him from the others with abilities and powers the "production-model" Big Daddies didn't get, like the ability to use Plasmids.
- The deadly Big Daddy drill replaces the wrench from the first "BioShock." The drill can be revved to scare Splicers away; it can also be combined with a "shoulder dash" technique to perform the Big Daddy's signature rushing drill attack. However, the drill won't become overpowering because of an "overheat meter."
- The upgrade system for Plasmids now does much more than increase power; by upgrading a Plasmid to the second or third tier, you are changing the way it can be used. For example, the Incinerate Plasmid will go immediately from setting things on fire to charging up a ball of fire that can be thrown at enemies. Also, Plasmids and weapons can be used simultaneously, and can be combined in new ways.
- Multiplayer is confirmed.
