Rapper 50 Cent keeps a Wii in his G-Unit offices, where he and I talked yesterday, the day of the release of "50 Cent: Blood on the Sand." Check the clip above to find out just which game compelled 50 to get a Wii. Gaming blog Kotaku is running a rumor that the next "Assassin's Creed" console game -- slated for release some time in the next 13 months -- will move the franchise from the time of the Crusades to the Italian Renaissance. A focus tester gives the blog details. We normally don't run other people's rumors, but, in this case, the details about the setting match what we've heard from a reliable source of our own. I've reached out to "Assassin's Creed" publisher Ubisoft for comment.

UPDATE - Here's Ubi's comment, via a company spokesperson: "It’s great to see that the fans are enjoying speculation regarding 'Assassin’s Creed' and we love and share their enthusiasm. We don’t comment on rumors or speculation, and rest assured that when we are ready to release information on the game, you will be among the first to know."

I'm not done with 2008 yet. I still need to play the second half of "Far Cry 2," most of "LittleBigPlanet" and most of "Valkyria Chronicles." In the last few weeks, "Halo Wars," "Killzone 2," and "Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and Damned" have taken priority. Last night, I finished "Lost and Damned" (what's up with the Niko-centric end credits?) and upgraded my copy of "LBP" to the latest version. I plan to get back to it tonight, except that a review build marked "Biohazard 5" just showed up in the mail late yesterday. At this rate, I'll be done with 2009 games before I finish 2008 stuff. How long with the "LBP" campaign take me?
