Barack Obama Calls Out Video Games In National Address

Let us now accept that America has a President who doesn't just have a Wii, but frequently mentions video games -- even during major speeches -- and loves to note that they can get in the way of good parenting if played to excess.

From Barack Obama's nationally televised address to Congress yesterday:

In the end, there is no program or policy that can substitute for a mother or father who will attend those parent/teacher conferences, or help with homework after dinner, or turn off the TV, put away the video games, and read to their child. I speak to you not just as a President, but as a father when I say that responsibility for our children's education must begin at home.

This isn't anything Obama hasn't said before, but it's still unusual for a President to be mentioning games in speeches like these in which you'd expect to hear things about energy policy, banking, taxes, terrorism and the like. Gaming? Not really.
