The game "Peggie" is no more; just hours after we reported on the clone of PopCap Games' popular pachinko riff, "Peggle," developer JSeuss Software changed the name to "Pegs in Space," a change prompted by a cease-and-desist order from PopCap, the developer told us in a statement.

What's the difference between "Peggle" and "Peggie"? On name alone, it's hard to tell, but that's why JSeuss Software's "Peggie" is now called "Pegs in Space."
MTV Multiplayer reported on "Peggie"s appearance on the iPhone application store yesterday but just hours later, the name had changed "Pegs in Space," a change prompted by a cease-and-desist order from "Peggle" publisher PopCap Games, the developer told us last night.
"We never intended to create such confusion with the release of our title, and as such, we were happy to make the name change," said a JSeuss representative in a statement released over e-mail. "We love PopCap's game as much as the next gamer, and we'd really like to see an iPhone version hit the shelves soon."

JSeuss seems to be actively acknowledging the similarities to "Peggle," but claims the iPhone community will determine where "Pegs in Space" goes next, not where PopCap takes the "Peggle" franchise on the iPhone.
"JSeuss Software values customer feedback and we're currently busily implementing some great suggestions for new levels and features to upgrade the game," the company told us. "However, there are some features you'll never see under our brand because JSeuss Software is about getting back to basics and letting the community guide our products with new innovative ideas. We pride ourselves in the simplicity and affordability that define our titles."
The name may be different, but the game is the same. Do you think that's a fair compromise on both sides?
