The layoffs at Ziff Davis put many of work and shuttered a number of gamers' favorite video and audio podcasts, but some are coming back in one form or another, including "The 1UP Show", as the former video producers have debuted their new production company, Area 5, and their new show, "Co-Op."

"The 1UP Show" may be dead, but the passion that drove its creators to pour hours into producing a weekly video game podcast lives on in their new show, "Co-Op."
Alongside the first episode of "Co-Op," an episode reflecting on the year in gaming that was 2008, the podcast team is also unveiling their new video production company, Area 5. Yes, the name references the last level in "Rez."
The Area 5 team has seen some impressive donations from the gaming community -- almost $13,000 in fan money alone -- and seem to have other plans in the works to keep Area 5 going and producing new "Co-Op" episodes. They've actually received so many fan donations that PayPal was alerted.
"We received so many small donations in such a short time-span that PayPal apparently thinks we’re doing something illegal," wrote "Co-Op" producer Matt Chandronait on the Area 5 website, "and we can’t spend any money from the account until it’s been “reviewed”–which their polite customer service people told me could take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours."
You can still donate, however, and support the endeavors by subscribing to their YouTube channel. There is no iTunes feed yet; Area 5 is investigating ways to profit off of "Co-Op" but keep the show cheap -- or free. How they reconcile that issue will be a key point for Area 5 going forward.
Good luck, guys!
