In just a few hours, the fifth season of "Lost" kicks off on ABC, but if you haven't played the Ubisoft game, "Lost: Via Domus," from last year, there's good reason to quickly read up on the plot and watch the game's ending, which was penned by the show's creators and has potentially startling implications.

It's known that "Lost: Via Domus" not a good video game, nor a entertaining experience for hardcore "Lost" fans. But the show's creators were consulted for the story and the writers are responsible for the twist ending.
That's the reason "Lost" fans should be paying attention "Via Domus," especially as the series continues down the path of time manipulation in the fifth season, premiering tonight on ABC at 9 p.m ET.
In "Via Domus," gamers play as Elliott Maslow, a photojournalist who finds himself on the Island alongside the other Oceanic 815 crash survivors. Elliott is not a character on the show and his story is not part of the show's plot. The themes of his story, however, do related to what's happening in "Lost."
Before the crash, Elliott was working with reporter Lisa Gellhorn on a big crime expose. She was murdered before the events of the game take place, a fact Elliott comes to realize as he progresses through "Via Domus" and remembers more of his past. But the basic fact remains: she's dead.
At the end of "Via Domus," Elliott finds a way to leave the Island. That's when this happens…
Keep in mind, the show's writers are responsible for that ending. The writers said that while Elliott's story isn't a part of "Lost" canon, what happened in his story could very much going to be a part of "Lost" going forward. Oooh.
