An MTV Games rep seeks to clarify yesterday's reports of "Rock Band 3" not making it out in 2009 by pointing out that the game doesn't even officially exist yet.

Bearing in mind that MTV does a good and proper job of keeping its News division and Games division separate, we here at the Multiplayer blog found out with the rest of the Internet yesterday that Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos told a crowd at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that there won't be a "Rock Band 3" in 2009.
Curious, I reached out to the MTV Games press team today to get some clarification. Here is the response I got from an MTV Games rep:
"Alex was responding to a question about potential future iterations of 'Rock Band' and the possibility of additional peripherals.
"Within the context of that question, Alex did comment that the Beatles game is the priority for MTV Games and Harmonix (but not the only project for 09 i.e. We will continue to release our weekly 'Rock Band' DLC, etc. etc. etc.). However, it's important to note that he also stated to the audience that 'Rock Band 3' does not yet even exist as an official project."
Nothing there contradicts the original report, but that "etc. etc. etc." certainly leaves room for some interesting content.
