I played 11 Xbox Live Arcade games for fun in 2008 and finished one of them.
As I did last year, I've compiled a list of the games that I played for fun in 2008. One list per major gaming platform.
(Check out the rest of my 2008 Gaming Playlists for other platforms, updated daily until New Year's.)
Today's entry is all about Xbox Live Arcade, Microsoft's long-running service for downloadable Xbox 360 games.
What did I play? And which one game did I finish?
Take a look below:
My 2008 XBLA Playlist
(Games I completed are italicized)
1) Aces of the Galaxy - Kind of like "Star Fox 64," but not nearly as good. Still, better than expected.
2) Braid
3) Castle Crashers
4) Elements of Destruction - In this game, you control the weather. As in: you drive a tornado through a barn or down a city street. Great concept that could have benefited from bigger-budget execution.
5) Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 - I suggest that it become mandatory for all XBLA games to do what this game did: constantly display the score of whichever of your Xbox Live friends friends is next above you on the leaderboard. It makes enemies of friends, but in a good way.
6) Mutant Storm: Empire - This was the latest in the perennially overlooked twin-stick shooting series on XBLA. The "Mutant Storm" games deserve more attention.
7) Omega Five
8 ) Penny Arcade Adventures
9) Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix - The game that taught me to throw a fireball.
10) Triggerheart Exelica
11) Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3
(Game I missed - "Banjo Kazooie")
XBLA Games of 2008: Played 11 / Finished 1
What did you play? And what did I miss?
