It was bound to happen eventually. The first age-restricted iPhone game premiered on Apple's application store courtesy of Adult Swim.
"Amateur Surgeon" is a $4.99 game that takes "Trauma Center" to a whole new level. As you'd expect from Adult Swim, it's all very tongue-in-cheek.
Our understanding is that "Amateur Surgeon" is the first mature-rated game to appear on the application store -- we looked for others! -- but Apple did not respond to our requests for confirmation. Let us know if there's more out there.
Here's what Apple's generic description of games receiving this label:
You must be 17 years old to purchase this game.
Titles in this category may also contain frequent and intense offensive language; frequent and intense cartoon, fantasy or realistic violence; and frequency and intense mature, horror, and suggestive themes; plus, sexual content, nudity, alcohol, tobacco, and drugs which may not be suitable for children under the age of 17.
And here's what "Amateur Surgeon" specifically contains, according to Apple…
Frequent/Intense Mature/Suggestive Themes
Infrequent/Mild Horror/Fear Themes
Frequent/Intense Profanity or Crude Humor
Frequent/Intense Cartoon or Fantasy Violence
Infrequent/Mild Sexual Content or Nudity
Infrequent/Mild Realistic Violence
Infrequent/Mild Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug use or References
That's quite a list! Do you expect to see more adult-themed games coming to the iPhone? Which kinds of games would you like to see?
