'Gears of War' Movie To Show 'Emergence Day' And Locust Horde Favorites, Says Screenwriter

Posted 10/30/08 9:00 am EST by Patrick Klepek in gears of war, hollywood, Movies

The level of talent behind movies like "BioShock" and "Gears of War" suggests we may finally see a game that becomes a commercially (and critically) successful film soon.

"Gears of War" screenwriter Chris Morgan recently spoke with our colleagues at the MTV Movies Blog -- there's also this post over at MTV News -- who described the movie as "gritty and real" and would address some scenarios not yet touched by the video game adaptations.

"I want to write and play it as though it happened today," said Morgan. "Look outside at your city and imagine that the Locust started rising — that's how I want it to feel."

The blog also asked Morgan if Corpsers, Seeders and Berserkers would make an appearance on the big-screen -- and he said yes. “If I have anything to do with it, you absolutely will," he said. " “And I do. So the answer is ‘Yes.’”

For more on how Morgan is approaching the ambitious action movie alongside director Len Wisemen, who most recently helmed "Live Free or Die Hard," check out MTV News and the MTV Movies Blog.
