The Next U.S. President In Activision's 'Secret Service' Game Is Caucasian, Fictional

Posted 10/17/08 9:00 am EST by Patrick Klepek in Politics

With just weeks before the Presidential election, political season is in full swing.

Activision Blizzard has timed the release of "Secret Service," a game where players "assume the role of an elite agent, tasked with protecting America's top leadership," to coincide with this increased national interest. (GameStop lists the game's release as Election Day.)

Given the political climate, I had to ask the obvious question: who would players be protecting? Current President George W. Bush? Would they patch in John McCain or Barack Obama, depending on the election's outcome on November 4?

As we've seen in other Activision video games (see: "Call of Duty 4"), there will be no connections to any real-world figures. A representative for Activision Blizzard told MTV Multiplayer that players will encounter fictional President Simon and newly virtually elected (and also fake) President Richard. Both of them are Caucasian.

"Secret Service" arrives in November at budget price for Xbox 360 ($39.99), PS2 ($29.99) and PC ($19.99).

What do you think of Activision Blizzard's choice for characterizing the President in "Secret Service"? Anyone want some DLC to get a real President in there?
