What better way to spend a three day weekend than to play a finished copy of "Spore"? I spent many hours ignoring real life in order to develop a virtual one. But EA won't let me write about it until Friday.
What better way to spend a holiday weekend than to lose half a day in Rare's Xbox 360 gardening simulator sequel, "Viva Pinata: Party Animals Trouble In Paradise"? This game had held "Spore" at bay for much of Saturday, a testament to its appeal. But Microsoft won't let me write about it until later today.
What better way to celebrate a few days without work than to play through "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" on the Xbox 360? This is a game I would not have bought based on the demo. My early impression was that this thing was more of a tech demo and a tweak of franchise fiction than a fun, well-made game. Now I've finished it, bursting to discuss the significant bridges it builds between Episode 3 and Episode 4 and its stunning final level. But LucasArts won't let me write about it until two Fridays from now.
So...anyone want to talk about anything I've played that I'm not prohibited from discussing? Like "Spore: Creatures" on the DS? You can download the demo to a DS from the Wii's Nintendo channel. And you, like me, can worry that the demo excludes any gameplay. Odd.
Next: Tonight, Space-Stage-willing, I will finish my first playthrough of "Spore."
