Even though we can’t talk about “Metal Gear Solid 4″ yet, it wouldn’t matter for this week’s What We’re NOT Playing; we all plan on playing Snake’s new adventure.
Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for “Don King Presents: Prizefighter” and “Frogger 2.” Jason Cipriano claims he’ll get around to trying “Prizefighter” because he’s such a “Fight Night” fan, but we’ll see about that one.
JasonCipriano: I’ll be shutting out “Frogger 2″ this week.
PatrickKlepek: Fear of traffic?
JasonCipriano: I do hate being in cars, but no. Fear of another bad sequel.
JasonCipriano: The original “Frogger” was a classic.
JasonCipriano: Everything else that came after that was really just … well… bad.
PatrickKlepek: Does this one have a story?
PatrickKlepek: Please say no.
JasonCipriano: I can’t really find any info on the game.
JasonCipriano: WAIT.
JasonCipriano: Found a screenshot.
JasonCipriano: And it totally looks like it does.
PatrickKlepek: Kill me now.
Read on to find out why I’m passing on “Prizefighter” because of Electronic Arts.
JasonCipriano: Woohoo… It’s a big week for games.
JasonCipriano: Well, at least for one game.
PatrickKlepek: Are you a “Metal Gear” fan?
JasonCipriano: In the past, I have not been (as you can see by my poor performance playing some of the classic games).
JasonCipriano: I saw a couple minutes of Totilo’s copy, and … well I guess I can’t talk about it at all, but, I think I can say that I think “MGS4″ may pull me in.
PatrickKlepek: I’m not anxious for the long cut-scenes, but I’ll be playing “MGS4″ right alongside you two, as well. I can’t wait.
JasonCipriano: Cut scenes are an interesting area of video games.
JasonCipriano: Why aren’t you looking forward to them
PatrickKlepek: I like “MGS”’s cut-scenes. I do not want to sit through 90 minutes of them.
PatrickKlepek: I don’t have that much time to play games.
PatrickKlepek: I want to, you know, play.
PatrickKlepek: But we’re getting pretty off-topic here.
PatrickKlepek: We aren’t playing — or not playing — “MGS4″ yet.
PatrickKlepek: This week, I have to apologize to Don King. I won’t be playing “Prizefighter.”

JasonCipriano: Are you just not a boxing fan, or are you jealous of his vocabulary?
PatrickKlepek: It seems like a simulation boxer. Sort of like the “Fight Night” series. I’m actually a pretty big fan of boxing games, but only ones that don’t take themselves seriously. I loved “Ready 2 Rumble” on Dreamcast.
JasonCipriano: So you prefer arcade boxing over a more traditional boxing game?
PatrickKlepek: Every time.
JasonCipriano: I guess that means someone’s looking forward to “Facebreaker”
PatrickKlepek: A-ha! I was hoping you’d make the connection on your own.
PatrickKlepek: After seeing the first gameplay footage over at Gametrailers, I’m really excited for “Facebreaker.”
PatrickKlepek: Peter Moore even invoked the comparison to “Ready 2 Rumble” himself. I’m sold.
JasonCipriano: Yeah. It looks like it’s going to pick up right where “Ready To Rumble” left off.
JasonCipriano: But, it doesn’t really look like “Don King” is going to pick up where “Fight Night” left off.
PatrickKlepek: I’m not sure where “Prizefighter” fits in. It could be a great game. It’s just not my thing.
JasonCipriano: After playing more “Fight Night 3″ than I expected to, I’ll give almost any boxing game a shot.
JasonCipriano: Although I find that, much like you, I enjoy the arcade style games much more.
PatrickKlepek: At least 2K Games can count on you.
PatrickKlepek: But who can’t count on you this week to play their game?
JasonCipriano: Coincidently, Konami.

JasonCipriano: I think it has to do with aliens.
PatrickKlepek: Even better.
PatrickKlepek: OR IS IT?
PatrickKlepek: I suppose it doesn’t bother me, though. I still have the original “Frogger” available to me in a million different incarnations.
PatrickKlepek: If “Frogger 2″ makes someone happy, so be it.
JasonCipriano: Good for them, but not for me.
JasonCipriano: It makes you stop and ask yourself, “Why?”
PatrickKlepek: Actually, to Konami, it’s probably “why not?”
JasonCipriano: I mean after “Frogger Beyond” where else do you really have to take the series?
JasonCipriano: He’s already gone … beyond
PatrickKlepek: Kind of like Solid Snake. The end of an era.
PatrickKlepek: Did I just relate “Frogger” to “MGS”?
JasonCipriano: Somehow. Aside from them having the same publisher, there’s really no real way that you can do that well.
PatrickKlepek: I can’t tell if that makes me awesome, or delusional.
PatrickKlepek: Maybe somewhere in-between. I’m okay with that.
JasonCipriano: Or maybe more towards delusional.
PatrickKlepek: Fair enough.
