Outside the Virgin Megastore this afternoon, more than 200 "Metal Gear" fans are waiting patiently in line for one thing -- to get their copy of "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" signed by its creator, Mr. Hideo Kojima.
This morning I saw a few stragglers hanging around in front of the store outside MTV's Times Square headquarters, but as the day went on, the line grew and grew. It now wraps halfway around the block. Around 3 p.m., I walked over and spoke with the first four people in line.

The very first person was Yascear, a Queens native who came at 7 p.m. last night to wait in line, followed shortly by Judi, who arrived several minutes later from the Bronx. The next pair were friends Timothy and Juan, who came all the way from Yorktown, Pennsylvania at 4 a.m. this morning.
Didn't they miss sleep? "It's all worth it to meet Hideo Kojima," Yascear said. And everyone nodded solemnly in agreement.
Kojima is set to arrive later tonight in time for some midnight launch madness. These guys will be happy. Guaranteed.
