Clearly, Jack Black wants to talk about "Brutal Legend." The man wore a shirt adorned with the upcoming heavy metal action game's logo during the MTV Movie Awards two weeks ago in Los Angeles.
Most of the folks sticking microphones in his face at the awards largely avoided the topic. And that's too bad because so little has been heard about the game since it was announced through Game Informer last year as developer Tim Schafer's next project.
Thankfully, MTV News' own Kim Stolz, however, did get Black to chat ever so briefly about his shirt and what it means. We got a tiny, mini-update about the game.
Asked by Stolz about what he was wearing, Black first pointed to his shirt and then the rest of his ensemble, saying: "I just wanted to represent. I do this video game 'Brutal Legend.' It's coming someday. And these pants are pantaloons. And I went with these purple people eaters [shoes]."

So there it was. A "Brutal Legend" update via Jack Black, but one short on details. Maybe the company backing the game could explain more?
I checked in with Sierra public relations to see what they had to say about Black's prominent "Brutal Legend" showing. How often does a celebrity sport a logo for an unreleased game? And I asked Sierra reps about rumors I'd heard from development sources about "Brutal Legend" being in a state of flux due to Sierra/Vivendi's impending merger with Activision (a merger I once posited would benefit the Schafer game.)
"To see Jack wearing that shirt is pretty damn cool," Sierra spokesman Tom Stratton told me. "It echoes how supportive and excited he is about the game. While we do not have any updates to share at this time, we are excited to reveal more details regarding our plans for 'Brutal Legend' very soon." I followed up and re-asked about the publishing rumors, but Stratton stuck to his first statement.
Since it was announced, the prospect of a Schafer/Black game starring a heavy metal roadie who fits heavy metal demons seemed like a perfect game to discuss on MTV.
We got scraps at the Movies Awards. Here's hoping we soon hear more.
