Were you as surprised as we were when “The Office” creator Ricky Gervais took the stage in “Grand Theft Auto IV”’s comedy club? How exactly did that come about?

MTV News’ Vanessa Whitewolf recently caught up with the British comedian to find out. In the beginning, Gervais actually passed on the project.

“Well, they called up my agent, and like [I say for] most things, I went, ‘Nahhh,’ ” the comic revealed to MTV News. “And then they said, ‘Are you mad? This is the biggest thing in the world. You’re crazy.’ ”
