There is nothing wrong with healthy competition in free enterprise, this will usually lead to better products and that is what all of these game companies are doing. Nintendo presented an innovative controller design which gave them a lead in a new market share, if this rumor stands true, Microsoft has acknowledged this and will attempt to tap a piece of the market and fill a new demographic that has primarily been dominated by Nintendo, by replicating the design, but it’s success will only be determined by how well it is implemented…all-in-all, if this happens, this would give Nintendo the opportunity to make better games which will give them the edge in order to stay competitive and to maintain their hold on the market.
All you fanboys should stop playing video games and get an education then maybe you can lecture us on what gamers want. Most of your arguments of the dominance of the 360 are bias and do not reflect Asia and Europe which make up most of the market place.

I just wanted to point out a couple of things to those people who say that Nintendo has won the war.
Microsoft monthly sales are generally lower than the wii for the past year and a bit; however, they have more total sales of systems. Microsoft also sells more games per system than the Wii and PS3 combined at about 7.2.
XBox Live has more gamers connecting than both the PS3 and Wii online communities combined.
Microsoft has more third party software providers than either of the other companies holding about 45% of the share.
So recapping, xbox 360 has more systems sold, more games sold, a larger online community and more software providers than either Wii or PS3.
On a more personal note, I have a 360, I had a Wii and have a PS3 in the house. I personally don’t like the ps3 controller and the graphics between the 360 and ps3 are comparable. The ps3 has very few exclusive tittles in comparison to the 360 and I perfer the 360 games. As for the Wii, the system got boring after about 2 months for me. I owned it for 1 year and didn’t play it for 10 months of it. I eventually sold the system a few weeks ago. The main reason - most of the games were subpar. I did enjoy Zelda and Metroid. Super Mario Galaxy was definitely over hyped and I got bored of that faster than any other game I’ve played in years.
And actually more on topic - this thing totally looks fake. Although if it is not fake and Microsoft does have motion control on the way, then cool. Sure it is not entirely innovative, but it doesn’t have to be.

This is the best generation ever. No one is doing poorly. I hate to see a company like Sony do poorly because they revolutionized the industry. I felt the same for Nintendo the last 2 cycles. Sony’s got the cow ready to milk with Blu-Ray so they’re not going down. And Microsoft is Microsoft. They’ll keep building mountains of crap like Vista and I’ll keep buying it until Mac goes open platform. And nintendo is the only console developer in history to go from dominating the industry to being predicted to die and then come right back into number one. Nobody is gonna get hurt or cry if microsoft makes a Super-Brick-Stick-A–GoGo, it’ll go the way of the Zune.

Let me dumb this down a bit for the haters, the ignorant ones, and the dumb masses.
If it weren’t for Nintendo, none of these games or systems would EXIST!! Have you noticed that EVERY game system controller has the d-pad (the cross button/up down left right) and buttons on the other side? Who started it? NINTENDO!! Each system is geared to a specific gamer. XBOX and PS are for teens and adults who want awesome graphics, intricate stories, eye candy, thrills, etc. The Wii is for the younger generation, those who like me are loyal Mario/Donkey Kong/Zelda fans, and those who don’t want to worry about button mashing and complicated games.
Wii sucks? There are plenty of XBOX systems in stores, and (gasp!) PS3s too? But trying to find a Wii in many places… not easy. So far, Wii have outsold both the other systems COMBINED!! The original XBOX sold more than the 360, and guess which system has the most technical complaints/problem?
If u like video games and say Nintendo sucks, learn from the elders people. You don’t have to have a Jimi Hendrix tattoo or know all the Rolling Stones albums, but if you like rock music, respects those who created or improved upon it.

I couldn’t say it better myself. All these people are bitching about Nintendo not giving a ~%@$ about the “wow” factor, or Microsoft not being able to create anything new and fresh.
Why can’t people just enjoy things for what they are, Nintendo has something really good going atm, I recon they should be getting one massive patt on the back. So who cares if its only a fad? The sales are already up there, so “GO FAD GO”. I love the quality and and polish looks of PS3 and 360, Yet inovation is almost non existant in comparrason to the Wii.
The 360 has some awesome games such as Gears of War, Mass Effect and the upcoming Banjo Kazooie title (Loved it on N64), while PS3 has MGS4, BLUERAY DVD, and the awesome advantage of have exclusice Final Fantasy games.

Heh, I heared that so many times, yet childish game (And alot of them) exist on both other consoles, and why are some games called childish? Is it because they lack blood, violance and graphic material? Really, I want to know! I find myself playing alot of games that lack blood shed, yet I return to them time and time again.
To finish off I’d like to state what I see as a “real” game.
RTS, FPS, ADVENTURE, PUZZLE, ARCADE, SPORTS, FIGHTING, and all the other catagories I forgot to add. A real game is one YOU enjoy, one YOU can see yourself playing time and time again, enjoy what you can while it lasts, who knows that the next generation will bring.
Oh and Jeff or whoever you are, Where do you get the nerve to say things like that to a lady? or anyone at that? You are a descrace to the human race, people like you are the reason why there is so much ~%@$ in the world. Really why don’t you just return to your dark little emo room and goto your sad make beleive world where someone gives a ~%@$ untill you rot from lack of human interaction, you don’t deserve it anyway.

I agree with a lot of the latest posts. All systems have something, because a system is only as good as it’s games.
I’m thrilled about some 360 games, and I don’t play MGS but the fourth in the series is probably gonna be awesome.
And Wii got it’s supergames of course.
Now, what I get really tired to hear is that cr-p about games for kids.
Do you know what games for kids are?
Spongebob games. And Disney games. And all those games that will sell because kids recognize their favourite cartoon.
I don’t think too many kids buy Super Mario Galaxy. They want Disney and sh!t. A lot of kids love GTA. Because you can kill people on the street. That’s cool.
Not the smallest kids perhaps, they stick to Disney i guess, but the kids from 12 to 15, those whose parents think they’re big enough to play what they want, or simply don’t understand, they play GTA and think hot graphics are the best because it look cool.
How mature is that?
Sure, they think it’s fun. I’d like to say because they’re twisted, but, even I can enjoy the rampage in GTA at moments. The story and voices use to be great too, that’s also true. But I really don’t enjoy playing a GTA any longer time. Because the controls suck, except when you drive, then the control is ok.
Besides, I don’t really like games which try to resemble the real world. It’s boring. I prefer things like Zelda, Jak and Daxter and Final Fantasy and stuff. King Kong is great though. The people have a certain style even if they look like regular humans, and the atmosphere in that game is sooo tight.
Anyway, back to my topic, the great games on Wii can’t be called games for kids. Not because they don’t look realistic, not because they don’t have a thrilling story. Not because there’s no blood.
All that doesn’t specify grownup games, and especially not great games.
A story doesn’t make a game “real”, or even good. It can be a good story, but if it’s not, then it’s a bad story. But it can still be a good game, if it’s fun to play. I mean, how solid is the story in Mario?
I hinted that GTA is immature, but it’s not necessarily so. If you like it for what it is, and not because there’s blood, or because it look real, or because you like to kill people, then you probably have a real reason.
If you feel childish when playing Super Mario, you need to deal with your own insecureness of your maturity.
A mature person can stand up and say: “I still enjoy climbing trees” and not be ashamed, and a grownup person doesn’t think he’s childish, because grownups should know that everyone is different and one should accept a person for who that person is.
Sure, if you don’t like Super Mario because the gameplay doesn’t appeal to you, then that’s what you think. It’s ok.
But don’t say it’s childish. Because then that’s what you are.

Well, this is disgusting. I hope the guys over at MS can’t sleep at night due to this, the most blatant rip-off and cash-in attempt on another console’s success since the Sixaxis was haphazardly introduced.
This would potentially be a good thing, if it was implemented correctly - which, knowing MS, it won’t be. At the end of the day, Nintendo, despite the lack of good games for its hardware, is (and always will be) far ahead in terms of innovation, as it goes beyond tried-and-tested formulae. Considering I play on my 360 a hell of a lot more than my Wii (and love it to pieces), I’d like to see this work, but it just screams ’shameful cash-in’ to me, and for that reason, I doubt it will work.
Oh, and you all ought to shut up with your unbelievably mysogynistic views - girls and women do play games too, and it’s unbelievably retarded and short-sighted of people like Jeff “alpha male” Bell(end) to make such remarks. Grow up, get a life and stop being such a ?%?%~.

This is not real. The MS R&D and Project team’s processes & POCs are a little more advanced than a sketch. If it were only at the point of a sketch it would not make news or be relevant.
It is amazing how personal people take gaming. Taking it seriously is one thing, but claiming which system is best or arguing against others’ opinions is pathetic. The “My Dad can beat up your Dad!” mentality is still alive and well I see.
I find the motion control descent for certain games and timing, but I do not care to Stand-up and constantly move my wrist either for some games. It becomes more of a distraction. As an option the Motion stuff is cool, but not as a Primary. Again, Just an opinion.

To some of the comments below.
If the so call ” older gamers” ran the movie industry, every movie would be star wars, lord of the rings, or some sort of Frank Miller comic film.
The same way every game on the “older gamers” system Xbox 360 is either a sci fi shooter, or a military shooter, or a racing game, or sports game.
Ask anybody who has played any Halo game online for more than 2 seconds about how many people they’ve heard over the headphones that might actually sound like they’ve past puberty already?
Answer will most likely be you’re asking this question to 4′th graders.
Being I’m a “older gamer”, you come to realize that when you become older, you don’t have the free time to playing 20+ hour shoot-a -thons.
For an older person the wii is perfect because most of their games I can pick up and play and actually get somewhere within an hour. That even includes some of the thougher games like Metriod, RE4, and Mario Galaxy. Oh and Twilight Princess is pretty amazing too, but you need to invest alot of time into that game.
Also once you’re past the age of 14, you realize girls are actually pretty alright and no girl on the planet would touch a 360 even with a 50 yard stick. Wii on the otherhand..
To sum up, yeah the wii has alot of crappy mini game fiascos but the people love it and unlike a 360 you actually look cool having one in your living room. (Part of it because they’re still so hard to get.)

Honestly, this is a good idea as it does add a bit of a “family” value to the Xbox 360. Honestly if the 360 had some family-oriented games like the Wii does, this system would outsell any other gaming console because it would appeal to all audiences, from serious avid gamers, to small children and entire families.
One thing I do disagree with this design is the fact that it imitates the Wii remote waaay too much. I mean if you’re trying to create something new for a console, then at least re-design the damned controller so it doesn’t look anything like it’s competition’s remote. Imagine the number of ignorant parents and people that would go purchase Wii remotes and would end up walking out of the store with a Microsoft Xbox 360 Motion remote?
Another thing, Microsoft would have to worry about what kinds of games will be designed to accomodate the style of the new motion remote. I don’t think it would be very fun to be playing a FPS like Call of Duty 4 online with a motion remote. You know that in order to be a good player you have to become proficient with the thumb sticks and with motion sensoring technology, it is pretty hard to be precise in your aim when you try to shoot someone. But also I wouldn’t want to see some imitations of games that Nintendo released on the Wii come out for 360. I mean I know it’s hard nowadays to be original, but for God’s sake at least try to do your own thing and stop ripping everybody else off..

I’ve been gaming since ‘86. I’m a full-time professional games journalist, with several years of experience and a thorough knowledge of the gaming industry. I am paid to play games, and tell people about them, and my opinion, from readers’ responses, is immensely valued. I’ve clocked over 100 hours of Call of Duty 4 online multiplayer, completed Halo 3 on Legendary, and nailed Guitar Hero 2 on Expert. I’m hooked on Team Fortress 2, and typically rack up 15-20 hours a week playing online. I’ve already paid my preorder on GTA4, and am anxiously awaiting its release.
I am also a woman.
So to the men spouting all this insufferable nonsense about women and gaming, please go die in a hole. We just don’t want you doggy paddling around in humanity’s gene pool anymore, kthx.

hey idiot dont yell at microsoft for buying rare. Yell at Nintendo they are ones that pretty much at fault. If you had any common sense you would look into why and how rare got bought before hating the person that bought them!
Also nintendo held rare back i shall now list the reasons.
1. Nintendo wouldnt publish conker’s bad fur day so rare was forced to publish it.
2.Nintendo took out golden eye and perfect dark face mapping which you would use the gameboy camera(which no one used but would have if they did this) and use a cable to upload and paste on your character in multiplayer. But nintendo was like no we dont want to spend money on making cable to connect camera to n64.
i know theres more i just cant think of them right now.
Oh and if any of you call me a microsoft fanboy your an idiot.
I am a RARE fanboy. They made the games I grew up with and Since microsoft bought them out i moved to their console because of them (still got a wii but i have to say… n64 games and gamecube games are way better than the wii ones cept brawl… not saying wii games are bad)

I could not care less about this controller, i own an xbox 360 and a wii, and if I were to give an estimate of the amount of time i play my wii as compared to my 360, it would be something like 8:1. The 360 specializes in multiplayer and FPS. I cannot STAND playing FPS on a console, i need a keyboard and mouse, the last remotely FPS game i played on 360 was lost planet. the wii games are fun and make good use of the motion sensing technology. with wii it is not about best graphics and high definition, I have a kickass computer i can play shooters on.
Games like trauma center, zelda, mario galaxy and smash brothers (to name a few) would look a lot better on a ps3 or 360, but who cares? i play them for the interactivity. sure, a lot of the games look like they’re made for kids (like monkeyball, wtf is that?) but the ones that are meant for teens and higher are some of the best of this generation.
All i’m saying is i don’t need to play a game where the main character is a huge ripped guy holding a BFG shouting profanity, and i dont need to be able to see the detail every blade of grass in a cinematic to make a game fun…

This is a fake. There is no X-Box button first of all. Then, where is the second thumbstick, left trigger and left bumper? Next, whats with the 4 LED lights in the front of the controller? There would have to be a sensor.

Oh, and the Right Bumper button also, thats not displayed on their. And even then, where could they put it that it would be easy to access.
Now, lets discuss the inside of the controller. It would be filled with microchips for the movement sensors and pickup and all that crap. So, where would they put the vibration motors. And still, even with all that, their still has to be a place to put them over sized batteries. And even with all of that in there, it still wouldn’t work, because the controllers would be CRAZILY heavy.
Note: Microsoft are NOT dumb enough to release something as stupid as this, and you all know it. All of you people saying Microsoft Sucks and all this crap, you need to realize, that they probably made the computer you left your hateful comments with.

wow….your all really immature, it’s rather funny. the way I see it the 360 is the better of the three systems, the PS3 doesn’t have any good games right now and their fight that they have blue ray is a really bad one. I mean yeah it has all that extra space but they basically put the same files on their twice to make it run faster which it doesn’t really so the extra space is really usless. The Wii has a lot of great gameplay features and I admit that it is a lot of fun. an whoever said that it was only for ages 12-17 is a complete idiot I know guys 40 years old and older who play it. As for the 360 I could care less if the “stole” this idea from Nintendo, te 360 is a better console anyway…anyway its marketing people who gives a damn. Geo if you look at the number’s of sale’s for PS3 , 360 , and WII you will clearly see that the 360 has DOMINATED them all. The is a nice artical about it at gamerevolution.com stating that . PS3 and 360 both will own of year’s to come. NEWtendo has the money but wont put in the time to develope something as massive as both the 360 and PS3. Wii would crumble under the stress of a PS3 or 360 game . I own all 3 PS3 ,WII , and 360 my 8 year old son play’s the Wii because it has “fairy tale” game’s unlike the other 2 mentioned above. Also to the poster that said something about original game’s NEWtendo didnt and hasnt made an original game you . Go back far back to Artari and even before that it was Magnavox’s Odyssey the first home console. The first video game ever made was in 1958 what would later be renamed pong.

This is good stuff. I love my Wii but I am disappointed with the old school graphics (less then the original xbox) , and I’m kind of miffed at Nintendo for not giving the Wii better graphics. Providing the 360 with a wiimote will allow this type of fun games to be enjoyed with realistic graphics. I will consider getting an xbox 360 if this takes off

Ive been playing videa games since the beginning of my time.
We cannot compare the Wii to the Xbox 360. Its like comparing a state of the art calculator to an iMac.
The Wii serves its purpose. I am one of those people that would play Mario kart over Forza 2 … BECAUSE it brings back memories of when I was 11 years old in 1992 playing the original Mario Kart (which I still own). So I think the Wii does a good job of capturing the young age group as well as an older age group like myself because it has ties to its roots. So I use my Wii for “fun” like Smash Bros, Mario Party 8, Zelda, etc.
The Xbox360 is what I use to play my power games and more serious games like Halo 3 and Bioshock and COD4. You cant compare the graphics … the 360 kills the Wii. And of course I couldnt see myself playing Halo3 with a “motion controller” … so for games like Halo I need the functunality of all the buttons. And like I said … graphics are much better and the game selection is a bit more fierce and competitive. Assassin’s Creed was awesome looking. (I never played it myself).
The point is that I have both systems and each one serves there individual purpose. If I have friends over … you can bet we’re bowling or playing Mario Galaxy, or Smash Bros in more recent times. And I cant wait for Mario Kart because we’re going to play it a lot. But if Im home alone … I usually turn on my 360 and I practice playing rockband OR I definitely turn on Halo and split some heads. lol

Wow, all these people commenting when this is a clear fake for 2 reasons.
1. The ’sketch’ is drawn in Microsoft paint, with the line tool, the circle tool and the square tool. Surely a company that is going to concept its idea, is not going to do it in paint.
2. It has 1 Thing that is different, and that would make the remote not work. The Wiimote works by using 1 INFRA RED LED, so by having coloured ones, would make the remote useless unless this “coloured” light could emit infrared light. I doubt it, seen as infrared is actually invisible to a “normal human” eyesight.
Oh and an extra special bonus reason:
It looks a little too much like the Wiimote for the microsoft legal team to be comfortable with.

Might as well let Microshart have something– their OS is dying from all sides, and that big corporation with all those resources should really do something useful. The WWW is the operating platform, by which i mean to say your browser. Most casual PC users will find more utility and ease with web-based applications, and folks who do serious (adult, money-making) creative work aren’t going to use MS Crapplications. Let them have gaming, i say.
That controller looks boring, though.

I hate how everyone immediately mistakes my knowledge of video games. The wii is a very strong competetor and offers a “different”
style of games; which is better in my mind. Im sure alot of people could agree with me(people that are fed up of seeing 1st person shooters on the market)

Nintendo is holding back supplies to create demand? Then how can a machine that is held back outsell consoles that are plentiful but rotting on store shelves.
Where are all the millions of PS2 owners that should have upgraded by now and bought a PS3?
360 sales are up because a 360 owner like myself and others my 360 got the “Open Tray” error 1 fricking month after the warranty is up so now I either pay to fix or go to the store and buy another one so my second sale will be counted as a new customer(like the people on their 4th 360’s).
But the DS & Wii is sold out because not only have the Nintendo faithful bought one, many have yet to find one. Because their Grand Parents, Parents, Aunts & Uncles, Neighbors, Piano Teacher, Bus Driver and friends are the ones keeping them out of stock not Nintendo hence the FREAKING HIGH SALES NUMBERS.

wii = childish games such as zelda and super smash bros, all they do at nintendo is remake all the old games with better graphics and a couple of variations.
if i wanted to play tennis or baseball on a console, i wouldnt. i would go outside and play it in the real world.
when i play video games i dont want it to be a workout, i want it to be destressful.
even if the 360 makes this controller i still wont buy it cause it seems dumb and a waste of time
