Are you a gamer who is fortunate to have both an Xbox 360 and a PlayStation 3?
Do you find yourself getting in a groove with one machine and ignoring the other? If that’s the case, I was wondering what makes you switch? Or are you constantly hopping from one machine to the other?
I ask because I noticed that I had been playing 360 for several weeks this winter, choosing against the PS3 versions of multi-platform games, because I have more friends on Live. Then the noise of the Xbox started getting to me and I switched to the PS3, which, thanks to “Burnout Paradise,” is now linked to a lot of my friends, too. I think “GTA” will yank me back to the 360.
You?

I have a 360 and a PS3. And I buy the great games for both consoles and rent the rest from Gamefly so I get alot of playtime in. But I admit I am prone to choose games for my X360 first just because I really like what I get out of Xbox Live and Achievements with games. Aslo, I am so used to using the In Game Menu on my 360 that when im playing my PS3 I hit the Home button wanting to play some music from my network forgetting it doesnt have the option. I also play alot online and in my experience so far Xbox live has been more dependable for me to play games in the long run, more so than the PSN has. I tried playing Army of Two on my PS3 other night and kept losing connection. I never lose my connection on XBL. It’s really frustrating. In the end really both these consoles are offering the same things. So its really the smaller things that push me to choose one over the other. I believe if Sony offered the kinds of things I enjoy in my 360 like an In game Menu and better PSN connections I’d probably choose my PS3 more often over my 360 anyday. I’m looking forward to Sony finally releasing a rumble pad for the PS3 next month so atleast Sony is heading in the right direction, and I think Sony could and should work out alot of bugs in the PSN and it’d be top notch but then again its free so in a way you “pay” for what you get. Pun intended.

I have a variety of systems that I game on, PS2, DS, PC, Wii, and 360. I tend to bounce around the systems with the 360 being the platform of choice, and the PC being the runner up. I love the 360 control and the games they’ve been releasing have been more of what I want to play. I recently thought about getting a PS3 because my 360 RROD. I called in to get my 360 replaced right after Thanksgiving Day 2007 and didn’t get the box to send it back to Microsoft until the last week in January 2008. Luckily I had purchased the Circuit City warranty; which gave me an in store gift card for the original price plus the warranty. I was really tempted in going for the PS3 at that point because the library isn’t as good as what I have on my 360.

Firstly the xbox360 looks poor and runs poor. I hate the pads, most the games are American war propaganda aimed at people who love killing and shooting games, like a flipping form of mind control.
The interface is poorly designed and akward to use in comparrison to the ps3.
Look the ps3 has loads more , wi fi, blue tooth, blue ray, better pads , free internet– you can have google on your tv screen and watch utube vids if you want!
For what u pay a ps3 is MUCH BETTER VALUE and you dont worry about that red light of death thing!
That just shows how poorly made the system is.
The ps3 is for adults, better range of games are due. The 360 is more of a kiddies console.

Xbox360 owners are SHEEP!!!! Yeah, the xbox has more games, but their best titles (HALO, GEARS, MASSEFFECT, BIOSHOCK) are all available on the PC and run better.
And yes, for the time being their online has more features, but with the addition of home in July PSN will have all those features and more. Not to mention PSN is more reliable than XBOXLIVE because they use dedicated servers instead of crappy P2P networking. All this and PSN is free!!!!
And if you want to talk games, now that Sony is shifting away from PS2 they are finally doing justice to the PS3 software lineup. This year alone will see the release of Socom, Killzone2, Resistance2, Metal Gear 4, Gran Turismo 5, Haze, Wardevil, Yakuza, Infamous, Motorstorm2, Little Big Planet, White Knight Story, etc.
Whats XBOX got this year? PC Ports! Gears2, Left 4dead, Halo Wars. Ninja Gaiden 2 is the only exclusive that you wont be able to get for computer, but knowing TEAM NINJA”S record it will come to the PS3 eventually.
XBOX owners are just sheep that jumped on the bandwagon too early. They own a 400$ peice of hardware that if it doesn’t already get RROD will be obsolete by late ‘09 early ‘10 seeing as how this is when MS hopes to come out with the successor to the xbox360. Thats right, games will not even be using consoles to their full potential yet but MS would have you shell out more cash because they couldn’t do their console right the first time!

@shaq and Tony
Guys, I asked for no system wars comments. This post is for people who own both machines, so they can talk about how they use one versus the other.
You can argue why your favorite machine is better than someone else’s in plenty of other threads and message boards, no?
March 24th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
STUPID PEOPLE WHO TALKS #@~@ SAYING THAT THEY GOT A PS3 AND A 360.
THEY SAY THAT THEY DONT USE THE PS3 CUZ IT HAS NO GAMES
!!!LIERS!!!,THAT MEANS THAT THEY DONT OWN A PS3.
I OWN BOTH OF THEM AND THE PS3 HAS FAR BETTER GAMES AND A EXCELENT ONLINE SERVICE.
360′S GAMES ARE SHORT CUZZ THEY USE DVD,PS3′S GAMES HAS MORE MISSIONS AND MORE THINGS ON THE GAMES;NOT EMPTY OR SMALL LIKE 360′S GAMES HAS CUZ IT HAS NO blu-RAY.
IT DESAPOINT ME WHEN I BUY A GAMES ON THE 360 AND THE GAMES ARE SOO fu^&G SHORT AND OVER THAT THE 360 OVERHEATS WHEN I PLAY COD4.
COD4 ON THE PS3 I CAN PLAY FOR HRS AND IT NEVER OVERHEATS OR MAKES A NOISE LIKE THE 360′S JET ENGINES.
m$ HAS THE $ TO PAY DEVELOPERS $$ SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE EXCLUSIVES,BUT THE ONLY THING THEY ARE DOING IS KILLING THE GAMES.
DEVELOPERS CHOSE PS3 WITHOUT GETTING PAID BILLIONS OF $$
March 24th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
I stopped playing my 360 after I beat lost odyssey(great game btw) and my gold membership ran out. I refuse to pay 50 bucks or watever cheap discount gold card it costs to play halo 3. Instead i just play cod 4 on my ps3. There arent any exclusives i want to play for 360 until gears of war 2. The rest i can get on my pc
March 24th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
i changed from 360 to ps3, mainly due to having x3 360’s suffer from the RROD within 12 months and poor customer service… even though i do miss playing dead rising ( which i wish capcom will port over to the ps3) but doubt it.
March 24th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
well personally i think think both r good systems ps3 online is free and also blue ray wich has the best quailty pictures, xbox 360 is good as well because the games are better and some other reasons. Some people say ps3 is expensive when really xbox 360 is expensive because of online 50$ a year ps3 online $0
so im gona say ps3 or wii but mainly ps3
March 24th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
I was a huge supporter of the 360, until mine began to break down. I have suffered 1 RROD, 1 broken DVD drive, and now a video card failure.
My broken console was delivered to the service center on 3/4, it has been 20 days now and my console is still awaiting repair. I have been told by the operator at 1800formyxbox that it may be up to 4 weeks from today before the console is repaired.
My $479 console will have been broken, and awaiting repair for a total of more than three months, since its purchase less than a year ago!!
I bought a PS3 over the holidays, and have now vowed to buy all multi-platform games for the sony from here on out, and yes even GTA4 despite Microsoft’s “Exclusive” content. Playing R6V2 on it now, and it looks great!
Buy a PS3, you will never regret it.
March 24th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
I own an Xbox 360 pro, i can’t think of anything that would make me switch consoles, i might eventually buy a PS3 as well if Sony were to release a game that i found to be original and compelling game that i couldn’t get for the 360 but so far that hasn’t happened and if it did i wouldn’t look at it as a switch but rather expanding my options.
I’m sure both system are great, have their own merits and if you are lucky enough to have both i can’t see the need to switch, i personally like the 360 because it has the games i like, better online service, rumble and i’m not interested in Blu-Ray movies.
Fanboys will argue all day about specs and features and stuff like that but at the end of the day, for most of us it comes down to games and our personal preferences towards which console exclusives we prefer, for me it’s Halo, Gears, Mass Effect, Forza, PGR, Bioshock, Crackdown… if you prefer Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Ratchet, Heavenly Sword and Drakes… then you would most likely buy a PS3.
True gamers would probably buy both if they had the funds, fanboys who flame each other with stupid derogatory remarks and copy and pasted, hand picked stats are nothing but cheerleaders and unpaid trolls who need to get a life before it passes them by.
March 24th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
i have the xbox360 i love it. yes it had already been sent back once. and i have a ps3. the only reason i got the ps3 was i got it cheap. with a 20% off cupon and my employe discount. i ended up paying 274.00 and some odd cents out the door. i couldnt pass it up for that price.and it had to be sent back to sony to get fixed already.disk read errors.
i like the xbox live better so i buy games for the 360 first. and the other games i want to play on the ps3 i rent from gamefly.com.
nice having a blueray palyer but the movies are to much money.
but if they ever get the same as xboxlive i would play the ps3 alot more. but there both good machines and both have there problems.
i just wish sony had a 3year warranty for theres also. i seen on google were the 360’s are going to be made at the same factory that sony has some of the ps3’s made maybe that will help.
March 24th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
I have all. I play the 360 the most because I have 10 games for it. the online is the best of all systems. i barely even play the wii. I’ve never owned a ps2, so I bought a ps3 and now have 16 games for ps2. I only have oblivion for ps3. my brother has a 360 so we always play online.
I did get the ring of death, but I beat the sh*t out of the xbox and it started working again.
I use the ps3 for photos and music more than anything. I don’t put that stuff on the 360 at all. The gaming experience is way better on the 360 but the ps3 is a better system, better quality. it’s the way it goes. by the way, 60 bucks for games is way to expensive and if they were cheaper, i would buy more…ie.. 60 games for original xbox, 40 games for the gamecube vs 10 games for the 360.
March 24th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
I own a PS3 and Wii. Having said that my opinion is slightly biased but I seriously looked at owning both systems.
The PS3 has Media Center, Blu-Ray, quite fan, great MTBF figures, non-proprietary bluetooth keyboard/headset/hardrive capabilites, and free online play. Btw Linux is a cool FREE OS. IMO the only thing that PS3 does not have is good games (which is changing), but overall it’s a BETTER system.
The total cost of ownership and RROD scared me away from xbox. If you want wireless controllers, WiFi, HDMI, and movie playback then you have to BUY extra adapters. You look forward to upgrading to an overpriced hard drive and HDDVD add on. Live costs money every year. If you want a headset or keyboard then you have to buy propietary MS equipment. On top of all of this shafting then you have a 15-30% chance that your investment will break on you for no reason? What gives?
For me the PS3 was the better choice in the long run.
March 24th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
Don’t hate those with disposable income.
I own TWO 360’s (that’s 2 for those literary challenged), a PS3, and a Wii. When I upgraded to Elite (for the HDMI and Falcon mobo), I decided to keep the launch console in case of RROD, but little did I know it would be put in service to substitute a FW2.17 bricked PS3 for my brother.
I forgot that I bought my fiance a silver PSP for Christmas last year. She actually likes Wii the best, but she’d prolly frag you to h*ll in COD4 or Halo 3 and remind you that you got beat by a girl!
Personally, I like them all about the same. It’s just that I find myself playing the 360 more. I’ve actually rented and finished Assassin’s Creed on PS3 first, then bought and finished it for XBOX later when it went on sale. Doing a side by side, Assassin’s Creed looked richer and had less shearing on the 360 than it did on the PS3.
Last generation, it was just the opposite. PS2 got more play, XBOX and GC sat on the bench. Hey, such is life when Sony and M$ decide to swap places. I even used to use PS2 controller on the XBOX, but now I prefer the 360 controller over Suxaxis (Give me Dualshock3!).
PS3 is the most “capable” system, so what? But then so was the original XBOX over the PS2/GC. The developers just need to stop all their belly aching and making excuses about the lack of HDD or the Cell, etc and just start pumping out quality titles for ALL consoles.
I was able to go almost a full year without wanting to upgrade from PS2 to PS3 due to lack of “killer apps” on PS3 *FOR ME*. Had Final Fintasy XII been PS3 exclusive, things might have been different.
If I didn’t own a 360 when Gears of War or Halo 3 released, I would have rushed out and bought a 360.
Yes, a lot of XBOX games are also available for PC’s, but good luck trying to play them on a $400 PC. As a matter of fact, that’s another reason why I can afford all 3 consoles, I stopped upgrading my PC rig!
March 24th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
I don’t have a PS3 yet, but I am looking forward to getting one when Grand Theft Auto 4 comes out.
I don’t fancy putting up with the annoying 360 fan noise for the hours on end I will probably spend on this game.
March 24th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
I have made the switch from the 360 to the PS3 quite early and before “Fanboys” were actually recognized by the press.
I bought my 360 in November of 2006. My first game was Gears of War. Around New Years eve my 360 displayed the “RROD.” A week before I had purchased a 1 year subscription to XBL. (Now its discontinued.) On January 2′nd, 2007 I had replaced my unit in store for a brand new 360. This unit lasted me until after Valentines day. (I had a 2 day stretch between giving it more than enough time to settle down.) I switched it that day for another unit. This last unit broke down on me for the last time in the begining of March. I took it back for a full refund in store credit and purchased the PS3. (An extra $300 dollars at the time.) My first game was MotorStorm. Then a week later Resistance. My system and its two games held me over until Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
The only thing that I miss about the 360 is Gears.
Accessing the dashboard in game I couldn’t care less about. Only people who have almost no social life strive over this feature seeing that they judge a console based on this…. SERIOUSLY GET A LIFE! I never used the damn in game dashboard for anything.
Now the User base on the 360’s live feature is a JOKE! Everyone and their mom seem to be making discriminative insults on other players because of their own inadequacy. “You got shot down. Whoopdy DOOO!!! Its just a ****ing game! Get over it!”
They will sit there and continue on sending (and in some cases rapping…) back and forth insults based on Gender, Ethnicity, Sexuality, and Culture.
If its not that its people who have their stereos BLASTING out their favorite tune and putting it on the microphone as if everyone is enjoying the music and asking for more. Its even worse when people put music on because most of the time it sounds like their microphone is being chewed up by their dog and they don’t even know it.
And don’t even get me started on the “American Idol” wannabe’s. It got to the point where I had to start downloading MP3’s with insults from Simon to get them to SHUT THE **** UP!
My first experience with a “Singer” (More like Vocal Catastrophe) on XBL went like this:
“Dude he’s behind the ****ing Bo-”
“LOOOOOOVING YOOOOUUU IS EEEASY CAUSE YOU’RE-”
“Shut the **** up dude. No one wants to know what your boyfriend looks like.”
Then you will sometimes hear someone say:
“Here we go again…”
If an online service has a report system then you know something is up…. On the PS3 I have only had a couple of run in’s with people acting like they do on XBL but its almost sorted out immediately. Usually it is a little kid thinking its funny to say “Calate la ****** bocha” (Shut up mother ****er) over and over again when someone even says a word in spanish like “Que Pasa” (Whats up?)
I have to say that the User base on the PSN is by far superior than the user base found on XBL.
Sure many people don’t have microphones on the PS3 side but I think its better that way. Making people purchase a microphone adds in a little responsibility to owning a microphone and thus it creates a more adolescent online experience.
All in all I think the PS3 is going to be the “Underdog Story of the year.”
As more and more people start to see the value of the PS3 they will switch over.
As for GTA IV EDLC…. you must consider these two attributes:
1. These “episodes” are going to cost money. Then a question of value arises. An “episode” isn’t clear on wether or not you are just getting more missions or an extra part of the level.
2. The first “episode” launches in August. I think people are going to be more interested in buying a brand new game rather than buying that extra content by that time.
March 24th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
I won’t pronounce myself directly, maybe because in the past I was a crazy PS fanboy and whatever I say may be suspicious now.
But I’ll say that there are some great ansers here, I have a PS3 and I’m quite happy with it, but I can understand some of the arguments of X360 owners.
There are many factors that are more about personal taste than just “technical” things, the country where we live, the way we live our lives and even the “design” of the consoles may be a factor to choose one over another, Americans, Europeans and Asians have very very different cultures, America is more about “spectacular, BIG, sensacionalism, “pimp” and… war (sorry)”, Europe is more about “unic, art, scared of war (we lived it…), life-style, traditions and old values”, Asians are more about “excentric, perfeccionism, new sensations and nacional brands”, in the end all that matters, because our education takes us to apreciate different things, Wii is more “asian”, it’s excentric, “anime games”, Nintendo brand, Xbox360 is more FPSs, American Sports, Community, and also “american brand”, Sony is not so connected to a single continent, maybe because they divided very well Sony Studios and SCEE, SCEA and SCEJ work all for their respective regions, they know what the peoplle from that continent want and they have the Studios to do the games, all in all, they can’t gather a very big and closed group, but a fragmented group of PS buyers.
In the end we have a very good and diversified market that as something to please all, and in the end, everyone will want to try the other platform game, even if they “scream” they hate that console.
March 24th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Well first of all i think this post is great, i’m tired of the f….. consoles war.
I thing both consoles are great in graphics, games and online playing, obviously the Live online service is better because it has better servers and a lot of things, but you must pay for it.
The PS Network is free and its getting better, the Home and the XBM updates will help a lot the online playing of the PS3. The 2.47 upgrade will let you chat with friend in the game.
So basically, if you are going to buy a console you mustnt follow the opinions of the people who only have one console, you must buy the 360 if your friends got the 360 and you like 360’s games and services, and you must buy the PS3 if your friends got the PS3 and you like PS3 games and you need a Blu-Ray player.
Anyway doesn’t matters what your choice is, because both are great.
Wii R.I.P
March 24th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Who gives a rat’s ass about which game is better!!!! They all *#*~!!!!
March 24th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
I find I play my 360 for the most part. I buy all my multi-platform games for 360 since I prefer the controller, achievements to increase replayability, and the superior online service. So far I’ve only had 6 titles for my PS3 (compared with about 40 for my 360). They’ve all been really good, but once I’ve finished them I haven’t felt the need to go back to them yet. The only game I play online is Warhawk and only because that’s the only way you can play it. For me, the Xbox 360 feels much more like it was built to be a proper gaming machine with the emphasis on a solid, no nonsense gaming experience, but I just don’t get that feeling with the PS3.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
I completely switched consoles from the Xbox 360 to the PS3 because the 360 is pure garbage. The console has a 16% to 33% failure rate. Two Xbox 360 consoles getting General Hardware failure at the GDC 08 is proof that Microsoft has not resolved the Red Ring of Death. A phrase synonymous with Xbox 360. There has never been an electronics product as defective as the 360. I play on my games on a PS3 because I enjoy gaming not shipping defective consoles.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
I got rid of my 360 due to getting the RROD once and then numerous game freezes. MS should have recalled the 360. Not only does it RROD but it scratches discs as well. Kassa proved that you don’t even have to touch the 360 for it to do this. As a 360 owner I used to pray everytime I turned it on.
Forget the “towel trick”, ineffective 360 coolers, waiting six weeks for the Xbox repair depot to mail you a refurbished (often defective) 360 and get a PS3. HD-DVD is just as dead as 1/3 of all 360 consoles. Xbox 360 supporters make me laugh.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Generally speaking I just plain Hate the XBOX 360, don’t like the look of it or the menu system.. not saying there is anything wrong with it (disregarding Hardware failures ofcourse) But its Just not Dead Sexy
PS3 for me ! Woop woop!
March 24th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
custom soundtracks. after i beat a game it’s the only reason i come back. I get to relax and listen to my music. I have played through most 360 games multiple times. I can even stand playing bad games like CoD 4 (not a bad game necessarily but not my type of game) Once the PS3 supports them I will come back to some of my ps3 games. Acutally it’s the only reason I would buy the xbox versionover the ps3.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:09 am
Well now because I’m on my 4th ps3 after having the disk read error now three times I’m buying a 360. Another sony quality product.
March 25th, 2008 at 2:02 am
My 360 gets all the play, i was on the ps3 for awhile when i was still finishing up DMC4, but now that i’ve beat that it never sees the light of day. My launch 360 is going strong and is usually on about 8 hours out of the day(no i don’y play that much it’s just i never turn it off really. I really wish the PS3 can make a turn around for me. I’m getting sick of it just being a blu-ray player
March 25th, 2008 at 2:31 am
I have all three of the newer systems and if a game is multi-platform, there’s almost no question which direction I go. 360. Much better online service and a persistent friends list.
I loved Ratchet, thought Heavenly Sword was ok and had a great time with Uncharted, but other than that there hasn’t been much in the way of gaming to draw me back to the PS3… yet.
Also, a number of my friends have a 360 but haven’t found a reason to buy a PS3 as well, so I can more consistently play games with my friends on the 360. Until some things change, the 360 will garner more of my time.
March 25th, 2008 at 3:00 am
I own all 3 game systems my wii & ps3 collects dust but some times i play them i like the ps3 better than Wii I plan to put lunix os in the ps3 to have more fun with it i will get in to it when home come out. My favorite is the xbox 360 for the libary of games avilable xbox live service all my friends have xbox 360 play one line the few of my friends who own ps3 and wii play offline.Any way
My opion LOL
Nintendo wii =greate for family fun
playstation 3= single player games ,blue ray ,free online service
Xbox 360= more online options more multiplayer/games
PC= every thing you want , you can mode/edit , multi task and upgrade to better hardware.
March 25th, 2008 at 3:01 am
1.Well the x360 has no games i cant play on my PC.
2. the xbox live price is a huge rip off and a complete joke
3. RROD.
March 25th, 2008 at 3:43 am
I have all three current gen systems and I find myself playing the Xbox 360 the most while playing the PS3 and the Wii the least (which isnt very often at all). I will always get the Xbox 360 version if a multi platform version is out because I like the 360 controller, integration with live the best. And usually the port is the best too.
I only have a PS3 because I got it for free, so I can’t really complain but I will get it for FF13
March 25th, 2008 at 4:45 am
I have both and play both fairly equally, PS3 for online (Warhawk & COD4) and 360 for offline.
Although I have got a bit carried away with Oblivion recently (360) only just discovered this truly great game and have racked up 40+ hours on it already (only owned it just over a week)
March 25th, 2008 at 6:30 am
first and foremost… I just traded in my 360 for the ps3….
but want made me switch was….. 360’s “ring of death” i sent it back 3 times….enuff was enuff…
but than i come over to ps3 and to find out the “free” playstation network is TRASH…. but the games & the blu - ray is crazy…. hopefully ps3 will fix these network problems..cant even complete a system update via internet i have to use usb drive….
damn u bill gates!!!! shouts to my old xbox killahs “lost planet” mob
March 25th, 2008 at 9:55 am
For my 360, I have a ton of games (most bought at $19.99 or less), but I don’t play it as much. For the PS3, I mostly watch Blu-ray movies, but I do have a couple of games. In terms of overall use, I use the PS3 more. In terms of playing games, probably the 360 wins by a hair.
I play games on the Wii more than both, however.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
People talking about RROD are liars and exaggerators. As money hungry as lawyers are in this country, you don’t think there would be a class action lawsuit filed already?! Forget filed, WON?! Truth of the matter, people saying their 360 crashed twice or more are LIARS. I’m calling ya’ll out. I don’t believe you! I can understand an ignorant buyer first time around laying it around on carpet or something, thinking he’s dealing with a ps2 or sega genesis or something…but twice?! Nah! I have an elite and it’s on days at a time. Then again, I treat it like a computer and it sits on its own shelf with adequate space. You don’t have to lie about a system to make an argument or show support for another maker. I like that there are 3 players in the market. Let’s focus our energies in getting these games cheaper. $60 is a ripoff. I don’t care if it’s Mass Effect, Halo 3, MGS4, GTA4…it’s too much money for games!
March 25th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Well Stephen, this discussion has gone pretty well. A vast majority of the comments were really helpful and intellectual. I’m surprised how many people took the same route as I did by playing their 360 less often in favor of the PS3. I’ve been playing my Playstation 3 so often recently that I don’t know what I’m going to do once my RROD’d 360 gets shipped back.
Like some people have said, the 360 had reached and now is past its prime. It was released a year earlier, so it makes sense, but it seems like the PS3 is the console to own now.
As for GTAIV, I pre-ordered the special edition for my PS3 a while ago. The GTA series was made for and it became known for what it is on the Playstation consoles, and playing a Grand Theft Auto game on my Dual Shock controller feels more natural. I’m not even sure if my 360 will be shipped back before the launch of GTAIV any way…

It’s the controller. Seriously. I just want to pick up Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for 360 because I really enjoy the feel of having the triggers for a shooter, and I despise the feel of the shoulder buttons-masquerading-as-triggers on the PS3 controller.
When I went to buy Call of Duty 4, I chose it for the PC (ha! a third option!) because after playing a rental version on 360, I just wanted that slightly more precise aiming ability that the mouse offers.
Then when it comes to other game types, like a Grand Theft Auto IV, I think the PS3 offers the best controller in terms of feel and ease of use. But in these games it isn’t a deal-breaker, like the triggers on the 360 controllers are for shooters.

Microsoft products have always infuriated me!
I own the PS3 with COD4, Assassin’s Creed and resistance fall of man.
They are all visually appealing but with not much else going on.
(I hated the never ending spawning of bots in COD4 first person)
(Assassin’s Creed was utterly repetitive but interesting story)
The only game I liked playing online was UT2004 because of onslaught.
It was far more interesting then just randomly shooting people.
But if I ever find a game I want to play online on the ps3 at least I don’t have to pay a fee.
All pc’s and mac’s offer free online play, PS3 does it right why can’t xbox. They just want to weasel more money out of you so they can sell their consoles for cheaper.
Until someone finally releases a next gen game that is worth my time, I will look for some of the best ps2 games at the bargain bin like shadow of the colossus and playing them on the ps3.
I am having more fun with them for a lot less money.

@infekt
“I have all three consoles. ”
“But PS3 is my fav. It has the brightest future. Better controller. Better Media Center. Promising online community features to come (In-Game Chat, Home, etc.). ”
You are clearly don’t have a 360 because it has had In-game chat since it’s release! So why make out that this some sort of ground breaking thing???
There seems to be a lot of ps3 fanboys on this site who don’t even know what the 360 has to offer which is pretty pathetic and really short sited considering there are obviously going to be 360 owners on this site reading your comments lol.

I have been with Sony since the original Playstation, then PS2, and now PS3 80GB. I still have each system and they all perform flawless. I did not feel the need to switch to 360 because of my brand loyalty. I have played 360 at friend’s houses and it is a great system with lots of games but it’s no Japanese system lol. (It’s like buying a new car, you never buy the car when it first comes out because of problems. With microsoft coming out with a brand new product, I was very sceptical that it would work well. Even with Sony having some problems I do not think the problems compare with the XBox.) Plus you have to look at what you are getting with your purchase. The PS3 comes with a Blu-Ray player, wi-fi, wireless controllers, (up to seven controllers), free on-line gaming, and much more. With Sony selling the PS3 cheaper than what it was costing to make, it was like stealing candy from a baby! It made it the system to buy!

i have both consoles. ps3 wins over my 360, its a much better system and of the multi-format games i would always get the ps3 version, although there are a few games that couldve been worked on more by the devs i genuinely prefer the ps3.
Plus i dont like MS because i know my 360 wont last for long as its really loud and i think scratches my games and they make you PAY for the online, extras needed to playonline, hard-drive etc. Also all the games i want this year so far are all on PS3 and i will be getting them on PS3 with exception of gears2 maybe?,
The good thing is that the ps3 is more advanced and you can make games better and longer than the 360, the devs are starting to use this edge from now on and then porting it to 360, i heard rumours of R*making a deal with Sony and staying exclusive to PS3 after GTA4 like they did with ps2.
People put the ps3 down alot as MS had a massive advantage, the price and a ’so’ called lack of games when really they’ve only just finshed wave 1! Sony has the better DEVS on side and a Multitude of games for the future and with the web browser, HOME etc ps3 IS the future of next-gen console gaming,
I agree with the_professer uptop^^, noone switches from 360 to ps3, Trust me everyone i know who has a ps3 dont use their 360 anymore! and mine is literally collecting dust!!

I always buy multi console on 360 as well for achievements. I thin PS3 will be great in the future but for now the xbox 360 is my console of choice.
March 26th, 2008 at 8:10 am
I bought ps3 from launch and waited a full year for a decent game but was left feeling very disappointed and let down. I traded it in for the 360 and got a ?$?* load of triple A titles and I haven’t looked back.
I can’t see me ever changing back especially because of LIVE, it’s one of those things you have to experience.
March 26th, 2008 at 10:02 am
I have both and I can quite happily say the 360 is the most in use the PS3 is used less and tbh I am starting to think the PS3 will be moved to the bedroom as the “media centre” instead of the PC. I prefer on 360 the graphics (apart from a few notable exceptions) the controller (im sorry How anyone can say the PS3 controller is better is a serious nostalgist and possesing of very weird thumbs) online community, it plays a wider range of media and (in the uk at least) new games are cheaper. Also the few exclusives for the PS3 are pony, I have uncharted, played through it twice and it didn’t seem all that amazing. I have even had friends come round and play it and they cant see what all the fuss is about either!

I find that although I bought a PS3 on launch day in the UK (my first next gen console) and 3 games with it, I then went and bought an Xbox 360 a month later and havent played my PS3 since that first month when i had only a Ps3. I also have bought zero games for the PS3 since 3 luanch titles (Motorstorm, Resistance, F1). When a game is multi platform I buy on 360 due to the fact that live is ten times better then psn. The community factor and genereally they are better on xbox 360. If however by chance (burnout paradise) they are said to be better on Ps3 i still find my self leaning towards the Xbox 360 as such i purchassed burnout on 360 mainly because i wanted to enjoy it with large amount of firends but also in retrospect due to teh fact that i love the control of 360 for 3 reasons: vibrations, trigger are much better for driving and shotting and even sports games and lastly the weight and shape. I find that the PS3 pad is a tad small and i find my middle finger and finger next to the little finger having to squashed on almost all the way round the pad this can get un comfy after extended periods of play and the weight makes it feel cheap. I watch movies on my PS3 just ebcause of blu ray and it upscales dvds better. Since the last March (uk launch) I have only played my PS3 for a 2 week period when my disk drive broke on my Xbox 360 and i noticed the time i spent gaming dropped drastically in that 2 weeks due to the fatc that playing on my PS3 feels lonely with no voice chat over games and that no one owns a PS3!!!. AS soon as i recieved my XBOX 360 back my PS3 went back to being the dusty movie player on shelf. I find I play agmes more and more because of multiplayer and due to the fact that games such as Halo do this so well there is no need for some half arsed attempt at multiplayer (motorstorm, F1). Oh yeh and my PS3 stopped playing anything DVDs, PS2 games, PS3 games and Blu ray movies 3 weeks ago. So i had to return that as well as the optical lense had broken (seems to be an increasing problem with launch PS3) the guy i spoke to on the phone said they have had loads of people with the same problem. For the first week when i realised it had broke ( tryed watching superbad on blu ray) i didnt even care or phone up for a replacement PS3. The only reason i phoned up was because in 3 weeks my gurantee ran out so i needed to get it replaced. however the minute my xbox 360 broke i phoned up and got it replaced. The strange thing is i expected my 360 to break due to the amount f tiem i use it for and issue woth the way it is built however due to the fact that i played my PS3 for a maxium of a quater of time compared to my 360 (if that) i was shock at the poor quality of its optical lense.

Just like to add that i agree with Will who says that Live is better even though it is not free. The PSN is a digraceful attempt at online. I happily pay the subscription fee for live due to the fact that it is a complete service that works 99.9% of the time perfectly and i pay for phone netwroks so i see it an acceptable charge even though it would be great of it was free but at least i have games to play for my 360 and i dont feel like i wasted 500 pounds on a movie player. I also got hd out of the box with my xbox 360. Oh yeh DLC big factor for my xbox 360 for games such as Halo, Mass effect. ANd a big shot at sony is the exclusive DLC for GTA IV and i will 100% definatly be getting GTA IV on 360 just for that alone even if the rest of the package was worse then the PS3 (which it is not) and expect every other multi platform owner will probably do the same. You cant beat microsoft they have so much money to fall back on. I used to be a PS3 fan boy now although i still bought a PS3 even though I knew i was making a mistake at the time i feel like a wasted a lot of money for it. Games take to long to be made on PS3 (GTA IV delays???) howver if ever microsoft drop the ball and all the above gets sorted out on PS3 there is no reason why i wouldnt swithc back but at the moment I cannot see this in any near future time.

I too have all three of the current-generation consoles. Of the three, my 360 gets the most use.
As an FPS fan, the lineup on the 360 cannot be beat. I also find the 360 controller most comfortable and intuitive for FPS games. Also the system linking is great for my Halo group’s monthly frag fest.
My Wii tends to come out when I’m having a party and want to appeal to a wide audience of players. The AP-provided news service is also outstanding and many mornings I find myself reading news on the Wii rather than from the paper or at the computer in the office.
After playing Resistance Fall of Man I have not really found any great use for the PS3 … but is does make a great Blu-ray player. But I was deprived of even that when it crapped out after only six months of use. Sony’s return service was speedy, but I lost all my saves in the process.
As a console agnostic, I hope the PS3 picks up a bit, but until it does, I’ll mainly be on the 360. That said, nothing can replace the Wii experience.

I have the PS3 and the 360 - if it’s just the gaming experice we’re comparing the 360 wins hands down! 90% of all multiplatform games work better on the 360! And as of now the 360 has better exclusives - thou’ MGS4 could change that! Also - the PS3’s controller is stuck in the past. The 360’s is way better, more confortable, better sized. The only bad thing is it’s dpad which is utter crap - it the only thing I wish they copied from the sixaxis (or rather the dualshock 2). The only downer on the 360 is the RROD - and it even more frustrating given the fact it’s such a good console. IMO the 360 is the real PS2 successor! Ah well - at least I get to play blurays and the decent exclusives!!

I bought an XBox 360 the day they came out. I lined up outside my local EB Games, and managed to grab one of the last ones they had. I was so excited to get one. I had played Halo once, and wanted to get a 360 to get Halo 3.
However, I found myself seriously disappointed with my 360. The controllers were bulky, uncomfortable, and died quickly, and without warning. The cooling fan was obnoxiously loud, and my copy of Burnout Revenge was severely damaged while I was playing it. I was playing, and all of a sudden, the audio began to skip, and then completely cut out. I ejected the disk, and found a deeply etched ring in the middle of the disk.
I immediately called Microsoft about this problem. They asked me if I had moved the unit during gameplay. I told them no, and they pretty much gave me a “Sorry for your luck”
Needless to say I was livid. So, I played my 360 only every now and then.
Then, I encountered the most infuriating thing ever.
The RROD.
I was so mad I couldn’t see straight. This was the final straw. I sent my 360 into Microsoft, and they repaired it, and sent it back.
This was all in the course of a month.
When I recieved the repaired XBox 360, I ensured that it worked correctly, cleared the HDD, and placed it in a box in my closet, and stuck to my Playstation 2.
When Sony released the Playstation 3, I called an EB Games to have them hold one for me. I went in, traded my 360 in with the service receipt, and they gave me full store credit. I placed it toward my PS3, and walked out with it the same day.
Since then, I’ve had only one real complaint with my PS3. The fact that after about 30 minutes of gameplay, you could cook an egg on it, due to it’s overheating. So, I went out, bought a $45 dollar Cooling Unit, and haven’t had a problem since.

I’d much rather play the 360 any day. So much easier to connect, chat, and just feel social with friends and new people. I’m also in an Achievement competition with many of my friends and you can’t get that on the PS3. $600 doorstop…..
