With most of the Multiplayer gang out in San Francisco at GDC, the two Jasons were left to hold down the fort that is "What We're Not Playing." With a short list of games released this week, and we somehow managed to end up not playing most of them; everything from "The Club" (which we like) to "Dynasty Warriors" (which we didn't) and back to "N+" (which we love).
I fear most of this week's game fell victim to our love for "Professor Layton," but one managed to escape our interest due to its' to eerie box art.
JasonMitchell: One last game I'll mention that i won't be playing is "My Horse and Me." Not only because it's not a game I would play but more because the box art is creepy... like really creepy.
JasonCipriano: Really? The box art doesn't suck you in? Call your name out?
JasonCipriano: Good box art is sometimes important.
JasonMitchell: I agree.
JasonCipriano: The whole judging a book by its cover thing.
JasonCipriano: I mean - at least while games still have box art.
Oh well, there's always next week.
JasonCipriano: Another week... and another set of games that we aren't playing.
JasonCipriano: While it appears the release list seems a bit short this week, there are still a few games that I will definitely be passing on.
JasonMitchell: Like what?
JasonCipirano: Well, aside from everything at GCD, I don't think I'll be playing the new "Apollo Justice" game
JasonMitchell: No "Ace Attorney" are you crazy?
JasonMitchell: Why not!!
JasonCipirano: I mean I'm a fan of the idea, but I still haven't found any time to actually play the other "Phoenix Wright" games .. ever.
JasonCipirano: So I just can't see myself starting with this one.
JasonMitchell: What better time then now to start?
JasonCipirano: And after all, like Patrick pointed out last week .. there's too much reading .. and "reading is for books."
JasonCipirano: I'M KIDDING!
JasonCipriano: Reading is okay in games.
JasonCipriano: Besides, my DS is too tied up with "Professor Layton" right now.
JasonCipriano: I'm pretty sure Apollo's got nothing on Layton.
JasonMitchell: I agree i'm tied up and loving "Professor Layton" too.
JasonMitchell: And now Tracey can't make fun of me for not reading granted it' not a book but it's still a lot of reading...
JasonCipriano: There is ... and to go from that to "Apollo Justice" would just be too much strain on my eyes
JasonCipriano: Yeah .. it's great... but we're talking about games we aren't playing remember?? (Sometimes people forget).
JasonMitchell: I'm not playing lots of this weeks releases. It's a lot of old, redundant franchises that I just don't care about anymore.
JasonCipriano: Really?
JasonCipriano: Aside from the "Phoenix Wright" series what else is there?
JasonMitchell: "Need for Speed," "Dynasty Warriors," "FIFA," "MX vs. ATV Untamed."
JasonCipriano: Oh jeez.
JasonCipriano: You're right.
JasonMitchell: Of course I'm right, I always am.
JasonCipriano: Wow ... talk about grossly overestimating.
JasonCipriano: Anywho.
JasonCipriano: "Need for Speed" is a port to the PSP ... so I can see why you might pass on that.
JasonCipriano: Not a fan of "Dynasty Warriors?"
JasonMitchell: I played a couple but I didn't see enough change in them to keep me interested after the first couple I played.
JasonCipriano: It's all really just more of the same game no?
JasonCipriano: "FIFA"'s a sports game... and we know how you feel about sports in general ...
JasonMitchell: Yeah i wouldn't play "FIFA" anyway but it fits in the theme of the games this week which is tired franchises.
JasonMitchell: What about "The Club?"
JasonMitchell: Are you going to be playing that?
JasonCipriano: I am, and already have "beaten" it.
JasonCipriano: At least in terms of Achievement points.
JasonMitchell: So do you recommend it or were you just playing to work on you Achievement quest?
JasonCipriano: It's arcade style - so you can keep playing it over and over for the high score on different difficulty settings, so if you're into that kinda thing its pretty cool.
JasonCipriano: I've played it and gotten all the Achievements I can swing out of it - once the quest is over, it's doubtful I'll really go back to it and throw a lot of time into it, but I would recommend it for a run through.
JasonMitchell: I do get obsessed with high score (like "Pac-man C.E." which, last I check I still have a higher score then you) but I don't know if I see my self driven to get a high score in an FPS like I do with the classics like "Pac-man."
JasonCipriano: Nice ... thanks for point that out again ...
JasonMitchell: Just wanted to make sure you remember
JasonCipriano: It's not an FPS. It's third person, but still I see your point. There are certain elements of it that I find fun, but again, it's not a long term kinda relationship. I guess more of a one night stand.
JasonMitchell: Considering there isn't much out that i will be playing maybe I'll give it a try
JasonMitchell: I am pretty excited about "N+" though
JasonCipriano: Yeah ... Its great to see that finally making the jump from being just a flash game.
JasonMitchell: True. I wonder if Tracey and Totes will be playing it.
JasonMitchell: Maybe there sick of the ocean and want to explore a ranch.
JasonCipriano: Doubtful ... I think Tracey's sick of horses in general.
JasonCipriano: So... I think we actually covered about 90% of the releases this week.
JasonMitchell: We are good!
JasonCipriano: And sadly only 2 of them are making the cut to be games that we are going to play.
JasonMitchell: We just tell it like it is.
JasonCipriano: Horray for "N+" and "The Club" ...
JasonMitchell: Let's recap what we learned. I'm always right and I'm better at "Pac-Man" then you.
JasonCipriano: Cue the end of Mitchell's dream sequence.
